In Winnipeg , more reports of people drilling holes into vans or pickup trucks. Jeepers I wish they knew how to siphon gas properly from the lid. I guess that special craft has been lost due to the drugs being taken. Good topic kevlar and was frustrated the police would not believe the guy for speeding home. I dont have my fuel tanks locked at the fill cap but thought after it doesnt make a difference if someone drills a hole and steals 1000 gallons of gas or diesel that way. We've always been reluctant to lock our tanks. Dad always said it's better to lose a tankful to a car once in awhile rather than losing the entire bulk tank because they smash the valve off trying to get it and letting it all run out. I was at our local retailer one time and they had a couple of 1000 gallon tanks in the yard, they were over doing something to it so I walked over to give the guys a hard time. They said that someone had stolen a bunch of gas that night. I asked how they got it as they shut the power off to the pumps and had it all locked up. They had drilled out the 3 screws that hold the vent on the filler cap and got in there, obviously shows how poor of a thief I would be, never even thought if that.

They are trying to save you from someone punching a hole in your gas tank! How noble of them! They had a ton of them there, that's for sure. Hearing more stories of grain and fuel theft lately, time to keep a close eye out both for yourself and the neighbors.

Imagine if we get a decent crop this year and prices remain the same as now. What value do you insure your grain for? 50,75,100% or no harvested insurance of your gross bushels?
I usually do about 40% because a lot is off the combine. just adds to the cost and really hard to prove it was stolen. Really just for fire damage.

Not so much about theft, but I made sure to check with insurance company that my fertilizer was covered. Bought in Nov. delivered in Dec, stored in two different sheds. Just made sure in the event of fire for example it was covered, give the value of it this year. It was, but upped the value of coverage some.
