I tell you. Here in Manitoba the corn is drying down nicely. If this dry wether keeps going it might come off dry! Hah! Will see 😏

Finished binning the barley in the early morning hours last Wednesday and took advantage of the showery weather to finish swathing the last 350 acres of canola (a lot was close to 100% seed color change). It's been wet ever since but might get a chance to try the early swathed canola tomorrow before another few days of rain in the forecast. Did take advantage of the break to ship ten loads of barley to free up some bin space for the canola. We'll see soon if that was needed 😑.

We have shipped out some malt barley also. Frees up the bigger bins and makes less auger moves. Filling 2000bu hopper takes a lot of time.

Wrapped up canola over the weekend, it did better than expected which is very nice with the current price. Very thankful for it being in the bin as we're at over 2in of rain today with a nasty storm. No more rain or frost for 2 weeks and we can hopefully sneak off a good crop of beans yet without making ruts.

Just getting into the canola. Caught a shower early this morning, so didn't get going until mid afternoon and just nicely got rolling and caught another quick downpour. Just enough to shut things down again. I see some big rain amounts for the Winkler/Morden area. Looks like we might be in for some overnight in western Manitoba.

Everything up to beans and corn is 98% done around here. Some guys have started beans, I think the acres I'm doing will be ready as soon as this 3.5" and counting of rain drys off..

This Dekalb 2136 is almost 50% milk line which makes me feel like it will be a good crop. My sandblasted stuff is just about fully dented now so it needs time for sure yet. Hearing reports of a lot of sclerotinia in canola this year, normally a wash to spray but this year it gave a good payback.

Canola is back down to 9.5 and is going through like nothing. Amazing what a few wet days will do to the straw.

Our canola is 7.5 and going through decent. A little rain would fix both problems. Better than testing 13 though!

13 is what I hope my soybeans are on Thursday . They dry very quickly . Can go Down to 8 percent very fast . I checked today and seed is still soft . Can pinch with your thumb . Least the soil is drying up !
This year I wished I would have grown all long season beans . You can sure see the difference in yield with the amount of pods on the long season variety .
Dirt roads are very soft now ! Might be grain carting to the road .

I'd love 13. Sub 10 is going to catch a lot. I'd rather harvest 14-15 as opposed to 10.

I think we’ll be trying the soybeans tomorrow. My buddy has been in the corn yesterday and today.

I think we’ll be trying the soybeans tomorrow. My buddy has been in the corn yesterday and today. Really corn??? I'm guessing that isn't gonna be a banner crop this early, unless he's chopping? Back in the canola today, finished the pre-snowstorm stuff. Yield creeping higher, tomorrow try the later seeded stuff, but a buddy said although his later canola looked better as well it didn't yield a whole lot higher. Soybeans get inspected Thursday and will try Friday, just need to drop a few more leaves...
