should get 3-4 bales per acre on this stuff. That’s the light part of the field.

Wrapped up wheat last week. Straw is all baled and under roof. Going hard on tillage and drainage and manure this week. Canola is still 5-10 days out yet and beans are still totally green. Wheat averaged over 70, 15-20bu gain on our tiled field.
How'd your canola do around your yard Oatking? Didn't look like your combines were moving very fast yesterday

Didn't look like your combines were moving very fast yesterday No they weren’t , a little over 40 . With all the rain this year , I will take it and be thank ful . Some guys will get 50 or better if fields are well drained some will do much worse . My farm along the highway has very low land . It Did well during the droughts . Too bad because the good areas show 57 on monitor . I have drainage plans as well very soon . Seed is large this year so that helps . Hope you have better success your way ! When I got the 14 inches up to July 1 st , I thought the canola was shot . It is tough to drain when you have almost zero slope to ditches ! Good fortunes on your harvest mbrfarms!

Weather forecast shows rain for Thursday so maybe frost is not a concern ! The cloud cover should keep us safe !

Finished peas finally. Chromes went 30, Amarillo about 34. Chromes looked like they would go 10, just little tufts of plants where as Amarillos had 3 feet of vine. I can see a need to increase seeding rate based on variety, the Chromes could benefit from a denser stand I think to cover ground better and supress weeds. At least where I am anyway.
Started HRSW, doing 45. Really small seeds. Great looking stubble, dense and very deep gold color. Dad used to say to look at color of stubble to know how a crop did. If those seeds got an inch of rain in late July and filled to normal size it would be a very nice crop here.
Swathed the mustard last week and it looks good. I saw a few acres that burnt up but overall looks decent. Flax I am not optimistic about, plus I have kochia doing extremely well in it. Flax has been very clean for many years and this year is a disaster, will be swathing most of it to get kochia dried down. Most of the flax turned completely brown (boles and stems) weeks ago so that I don't think is a good sign but will see what the combine says.

Don’t worry about the dirty flax The other day going to winkler I saw a field of flax with almost every imaginable weed in it . Except the outside round was clean . I had flax that looked clean after spraying than the lambs quarter took over . Didn’t want to look at it ! But the weeds came late enough I still got 35 bpa.

Kevlar has been missing for a while on here. Wheat and corn are up, seems to me this is related to how our "markets" work and not about supply and demand. Going into September contracts there were perhaps an above normal number of positions held through July and August that needed to get settled before September, now that those are sold off this small rebound could be the result - less selling of positions and perhaps more buying as the same entities start acting on whether or not the record crop that "was made in July" actually isn't quite there.

On the last of the barley today then only got canola left to go. Last couple 1/4s of malt were pushing 3 digits on our farthest away fields. Feed barley at home won’t be as good. It’s a forage barley so has lots of plant material which is good for silage and baling. Has a bit of yield drag on it. lots more straw out of our 670 compared to the 780. Even with it having 5’ bigger header

Baled barley straw behind our 780 last year and for what looks like a little swath it sure was dense, was surprised how fast I made a bale. It'll be interesting how your canola runs, meskie. We've been doing feed barley and are happy with the 90bu yield, especially the 54lb test wt. That's on less than 7 inches of rain. The canola ... not sure what to expect.

Water tanker might be sitting by our canola bins when we haul them out…

Water tanker might be sitting by our canola bins when we haul them out… Always good to have fire suppression on standby. Don't want to let things get too dry!

I’m told 330 gallons on 44T brings it up 3 points….

People actually add water to their canola?
Isn't that illegal?
