Okay, Okay, Okay. I'm running for prime minister so need to hire the combining out while I fulfill my duties there...ha ha Actually I'm at the point where I really should have two machines, so probably just run two older machines. Not gonna drop 750K on another new one on same acres that's for sure! Actually have about ten guys interested already. Now I know how a dealer feels, a bunch of farmers telling me how their combine with 2-3X the hours and no tracks is worth almost as much as mine.

Well if your looking for a nice 2013 780tt I know where one is for sale..... I’d even sell without the pickup if you wanted.
The DEF tank last forever on it also. Haven’t had to put any in for 4 seasons

Haven’t had to put any in for 4 seasons That actually might be okay, provided you are okay with writing the right size of check. I bought a pickup for the new one here, never used it but I figure it's something a guy should have. Trucker that delivered it said over two thirds of the combines he hauled out this fall had no pickup header with!

I was a little concerned for a bit, worried maybe life had thrown a curve ball at you and something bad had unexpectedly happened. Glad to hear all is well.
Ya, and good luck trying to deal with a bunch of farmers!!! lol

Same here. Was hoping all was well and didn't really want to pry. Sure glad concerns were for nothing.

SWMAN I think you're onto something with the 2 combines. Not even 3 years ago, it was much easier to go the 1 big combine scenario. I have stayed on that train for the time being doing about 4500 ac with one machine, bringing a friend in to help when he's done if I'm in a bind.
BUT.... and that's a big BUT now, the cost of the 1 big machine is getting to be too much. When that single new machine is approaching 1M the economics shift pretty quickly in favour of 2 400k machines. You will get more done with the 2. I'm still stratching my head on this dilemma but could forsee a change in the next couple years if the pricing trend continues.

It's hard to justify buying new with today's prices. We looked at trading up our 2013, just on one a couple years newer and the price difference was an insult. In my area, it's getting very close to being able to run 3 mid hour machines for the price of one new. I don't care how many acres one new machine can cover, I know for a fact it can't cover enough ground in my area to justify it.

It’s the same around here Kevlar. We looked at trading last year and we could buy another one for less money then the difference. We can do all our acres with one machine but it’s getting up in hours and has a few little things to fix during the season. I don’t mind fixing the small things but when one machine goes down your at 0 acres per hour. We are even contemplating getting two smaller machines to cover our acres. It’s just finding the extra guy to run the combine.

For what the newer combine cost is. You could get it custom combined. Not sure how the custom combiners make a go of it. $100000 cost for the first year then $80000 for the second year.

Not sure what custom prices are but I haven’t seen any in our area ever. And if it’s what I have heard from other areas it would make a combine payment for us. Our season is so unpredictable it would be hard to get custom guys in and done when we want and before weather shuts us down.
