I really haven't paid attention to anything regarding China. Did they even shut down their economy? I mean, the scamdemic started in Wuhan, yet, as far as I know, there was no news about shutdown or quarantine in, say, Beijing.
You would think a very dense country like China and the heart of the virus would have been crippled. But apparently not. So imports carry on as ever. And of course we have the "trade deal". How carved in stone are those? How often is a trade deal cancelled or the rules broken to end up in some WTO court.
I am of the opinion that the "news" is irrelevant. Things are going to take place and the "news" printed to explain it. Not events happening and then the market responds. How come China is the center of pork production for Asia, surely someone figured out there is an opportunity to produce pork near China and then fill a demand in China or cover the demand that China normally fills. Of course we consider "communist" China and how it can be aiding an industry with infinite subsidies of raw commodities, cheap labor, and iron fisted control of trade, then we can perhaps understand why no one fills the demand when China has another livestock issue.
Point being, it doesn't matter what I read about a China import program or trade deal. It can be changed tomorrow. So I don't bother reading. I look at what a fair price is right now, where markets are sitting 6 months out and decide from there. China is just a spectre used to explain something that doesn't have explanation.
Locking in price a year ahead is fine. You know your cost of production, profits and so your variable costs should not change much. I like being this little guy with old equipment and no payment structure to be a slave to. I will watch and go with which way the wind blows, for good or bad. No rhyme or reason except knowing that what "China" does is not reality.

Meskie, I meant 2022 nov futures canola at altona is 541 a tonne minus the basis is around 15-20 a tonne is a net 11.80 per bushell price. If it hits over 12 -13 range i will definitely sell more canola.

A lot of people depend on local elevators for harvest and storage, I am not one of them. I have enough bin capacity to store an entire harvest. Sometimes it only for a month, sometimes longer. This year is an exception but it's paid exponentially well this year. I bought a bin site last year that the locals that never build bins said I paid too much for, funny the grain stored there pays off the note on price gains in less the 6 months.

Muskie, Bourgault still wouldn’t be able to build more with more ppl. They have shortages on every type of part you can think of including NA suppliers.

So bourgaults early order 2022 program was successful. Are they running full tilt? Or just trying to create demand and increase prices? Who the f*ck needs a seeder so bad you order it 2 years ahead of time

No they aren’t running full tilt. But they are going hard with the crew they have. I think they had such a demand for 2021 sales that they couldn’t get made in time they pushed them to the 2022 year by having early order program.

I guess jack pine sand doesn’t count Ken. Maybe the experts cited in the article have never heard of the Romans. Apparently covid vaccine won’t work if it’s place in vials made from recycled glass. Good thing we are getting our sand advice from a UN climate change guru. www.fswaste.co.uk/2017/05/history-of-glass/

Lots wanting the black rims I guess. 😂 there are definitely some die hard BG guys that would be all over the new drills.

Might be a few more shortages if they don't get that stuck container ship in the Suez canal moving soon. Guessing there are a few "unhappy" people over this.
