Buddy in South Africa said diesel is in short supply there, rationing going on and can't get a full tank. Coming here soon possibly?

I think so, hopefully it will sort itself out before spring but I’m not going to hold my breath. Definitely not going to let everything get low on fuel and the tanks in the yard run out.
Filled the tanks a week or so ago, $1.51😬. Two bucks by spring?

Co-op in Regina is corked full. Had to throttle back. New smaller refinery 20 miles north of here is slowly getting fired up. Sounds like they have hired a few guys to haul diesel to unity.

I have a friend that owns a grocery store and he tells me that a single head of Romaine lettuce is now $9!!! So presumably a store would have to charge a couple bucks more on top of that. Now think about how many people will drop $10+ on a head of lettuce and what happens to the store when they bring in expensive perishable items and they go bad. So wouldn't be surprising to see shortages of produce on your local store shelf very soon.

Yeah, I guess that was moreso due to some blight/growing issue for the lettuce. Probably some suppliers that have good lettuce definitely making their $ in a short supply chain though. Less to do with inflation or anything like that I'd imagine in this case.
I saw in town a single romaine (not the prettiest, but OK) was $5/each, but sister in La Crete was seeing like that $9/head. But it is pretty normal for prices up there to be potentially 2-3x what it is in town for random stuff. (I remember one time he sending pictures of asparagus was like 19.99/lb, and not crazy out of season)
Still pretty gross when there isn't the option even for a multi-pack of romaine, as at least that way if it is $10/3 pack, it seems to keep a lot better than the single-handled leafy stuff.

Usually a 5 pack of romaine at Costco was 5-6 bucks. That is when they have it, nothing there last couple times we went.

Anyone heard anything about diesel shortage from Petro Can? A buddy was saying no diesel from them around Edmonton?

I’ve heard of a diesel shortage in general but haven’t heard of anyone running out yet. Seen a tank for sale yesterday and thought I might pick up another one and get it filled in case things get even more stupid for next spring.

I talked to a guy from Dmm Energy the other day. He said maybe a shortage in the US but not here. But he did say prices would go up.

I think the diesel shortage is a crock of shit. Neighbor runs a tanker out of terminals. He said this is the first fall that no terminal ran out of diesel. He said it always happens every year they'll get diverted somewhere because a terminal was out. If it's razor thin and this is the first they've never been diverted during peak demand, it ain't that thin.
I think the shortage is home heating/kerosene in the northeast.

Well...if it runs short I guess there will be one of those big safety meetings where nobody moves and nobody gets hurt. I tend to agree it is a crock but I guess there could be localized issues maybe.
Don't quite understand how management could screw up on home heating fuel just before winter...maybe that big hurricane in florida threw in a wrench for some places depending on where they get it from.

Lots of refineries have shut down over last few years. They are old and not being fixed since the gov doesn’t want fossil fuels used going forward, so shortages will happen.

No rifle shells to be had again anywhere this year. Was in town yesterday and was going to pick up some gun oil and cleaning solvent, nobody had that, and noticed no centre fire shells of any caliber. Shot gun and.22 shells there was some of them. Brother had to run to Brandon today so asked if he could get me some gun oil, he went to Jo Brooks, a smaller version of Cabella’s, had some oil but very few shells, only a couple boxes of the less common caliber. Said he can’t get supplies even for reloading. He said no real reason for it other than he thinks the government is causing this because their gun control plans aren’t working.

What calibre is that you were looking for. Had you looked up Cabela's or Canadian tire and imagine there are some other gun stores. I've wondered about that aspect for some years now and would not doubt for a minute that its a controlled reduction just like all the other actions to an end goal of no ability to defend ones self from whatever plan they have schemed. Of course what ammo that is out there would be jacked up in price.
