Man you guys must be old……. 😬. I think I’ve only used foam once or twice. I take then that you've never drug a tire? 🤣 Me neither. I remember our old pull type had the tires on it to drag but i never drove it.

The bags we get have changed over the years. They used to be long and skinny about 4-5’ tall now they are short and fat. The short fat ones are harder to fill and tie but must be easier for the recycle guys to handle.
I know some guys that used to line the jugs up and flatten them with the sprayer. Once you filled the bags with those jugs it took two guys to move them.

Last year after I bagged all the jugs, I flattened all the boxes and took them to the dump to put in the recycling bin. Was told I can't do that, but could put them in the big garbage bin. That doesn't make sense to me,will just burn them like I used to and save me time!

Carlos, I wonder if they feel there would be chemical residue on the boxes ( I would guess that would be correct depending on the chemical and the handling situation ) and therefore feel its unwise to put that cardboard into the recycling bins. Just speculation on my part and they didn't give you any information either by the sounds of it that they based their stance on.

We burn all the cardboard and canola bags. Need more carbon in the atmosphere. I kinda like the longer summer season. Bought a couple apple trees for the yard. They changed my zone from 1b to 2b. 😏😁 ps: I know, off topic, ha.

Took a load of garbage to the dump yesterday and noticed that they had a sign up stating that effective January first they will no longer be accepting chemical containers of any kind.

Might have to adopt one of the mottos of a former Alberta premier, Ralph Klein! Think it went something like...... shoot, shovel and shutup! lol
You wonder why when they have something that works, someone thinks it needs to be changed.

I can’t believe that recycling plastic is wokey now! Well I guess it’s bonfire time now! How long before all chemical is bought in 200l drums?

Sorry, but c'mon, it took me about two seconds to find out where you can get rid of your jugs.

The thing is, not all those sites accept the empty jugs, not sure why it lists them all. The dump was a handy spot and took in a large area, you would think that’s what the people that picked them up would want 🤷♂️ . Even better is the CleanFarm program, have a few old jugs from ages ago with no label and not sure what it is, tried taking them to their sites that they list but it’s only in operation for a certain time each year, have called and left messages but have never got a call back. That was last summer, never tried this year.

Ya but you went to the retailer to pick up the jugs. Just seems logical to take the empties back there. They have chemical handling protocols.

Perhaps in Sask that map is up to date, have not looked up a map like that in Alberta but the fact remains that our local retailers had no clue this was happening until into the middle of spraying and they had no containment areas planned out, no plastic bags to put the jugs into until they were informed they were now supposed to accept jugs. I looked again just now at my local county office website and the idiots still have not changed the landfill wording as it still claims that they accept the chemical containers at the very dump I go to that has not accepted them for two months now. Now there is typical government for you, only in this case its local idiots and frick they can't get their act together, they even picked out all the jugs from the one land fill I go to and hauled them over to the other land fill they operate to dump them there. Talk about digging holes and filling them in again.

It does, but none of the retailers I deal with have a site to contain the jugs, and as far as I know don’t accept them. The dump had an area that was designed to contain the runoff and fenced. The retailers take back the totes and drums that have a deposit but not the drums that don’t. So assume the retailers will now have to have an area for them?

Sounds like other provinces are going to have to figure it out. Glad all the logistics were taken care of a long time ago in good old Saskatchewan 😀.
