Better than filling it with 18% canola!
I can see the fence line at the end of the wheat field, been tough slugging but the ends in sight, maybe an hour or so! That just leaves the canola to go
Dumping on the go, first gear at just above idle, why does the last bit take so long?

What (belt) did you break? Aps Wife took her eye off the swath for "a second" she said. Can't give her too hard a time tho, it's only her 5th day on that combine.

We should get done tomorrow. Then off to help a dairy farmer combine some barley. They don't have any grain equipment. They are friends. Hopefully it goes well.

We keep a spare one of those in each combine. Had the nice aroma of burnt impeller belt this morning on dads combine. And climbing in the hopper to unplug. Might have been a bit tough when he started. We keep an extra one in the cab also. Got 180 acres of canola left. Should be able to get that done tomorrow if it goes well.(grain cart guy quit on us…. Damn grade 9 kids that have school) Few showers floating around tonight see what it’s like in the morning.

Ya, we also have a spare in the shop. Been there for 6 yrs I think. Since the first yr when we thought you were supposed to go to engine power limit. Peas at 4.5 to 5 mph, stuff happens fast, lol.

All goes good we will finish tomorrow as we are moving on to the last 600 acres canola today, then do 300 custom work for a cattle farmer with no harvest equipment, (150 barley and 150 canola).

Might go do some custom harvesting tomorrow. My one uncle that we used to farm with had a small combine fire today and my other uncle had his combine go up in flames.

That's a tough break for them both Meskie. We should finish today as we had a really good day yesterday and knocked off 365 acres, just down to 220 canola now. Then the 300 custom.

I suppose if there ever was such a thing as good timing for a combine fire then your uncles got pretty close.
A few more hours of flax then done. Be right on 30 bu/ac so fairly average. Lots of grass green straw being straight cut but flax is down around 7.0%. Field started off good but then got into the poorer areas and lack of rain was quite noticeable on the yield monitor. Not a bad stand, just not same fill as the good areas.

Canola yesterday was still 11.5 on the top of a hill, was overcast and smoky most of the day. Today has been foggy and mist at home, took the family to Brandon for the day, rainy here.

Anybody spreading dry 46-0-0 yet. Does it pay to put an inhibitor on it? Is the cost of the product now translate to a cost savings even when you figure 15 percent loss. A few years ago it made sense to take a loan out to fall fertilize with 2 percent or less interest. Now that has ballooned to 8-9 percent so basically not an option now. I use all nh3 in a one pass in the spring, however putting some on in the fall would speed up my seeding operation. Right now pulling a mid sized 1700 tank I can do about 55 acres in canola. I can pull the 2000s but choose not to for fear of tire tracks. I would like to match the phosphate and seed to the 82-0-0.
I have been expanding my farm ever since I started farming and have put my money into land and my equipment mostly . I only put a small amount to pay for fertilizer in cash. I wish I could do the full amount of 200 000 plus bill but not there yet!
Does anybody use their disc drill to put nh3 on in the fall ? I thought of using my front row on my 1895 and lift up the 2 and 3 rows!
