First seeded wheat around here is in the early flag leaf stage. (not mine) We are very thankful for the good conditions we have had this spring. Canola is a bit patchy, but the wheat looks very nice. Think the patchy canola could be from flea beetle damage. We will see what the rest of the year brings us.

Pretty much the same here victory, barley and oats are 3-4 leaf and wheat matches yours. Canola still looks like crap, but it always seems to look that way at this time of the year. The few bare patches of canola I think are from the rain sealing it in as it is in mostly the poorer soils. Few lower spots of wheat turning yellow and the handful of peas around could use some heat now. Those peas better produce too, never stuck any in the garden lol.

Oats are in the one to two leaf stage , canola is growing incredible fast and is starting to cover the ground. Best crop in terms of emergence in years. Flooded land especially is looking pretty good. We had it tough early on in terms of flood water but now we are getting really nice crop growing conditions. Earlier seeded cereals are in the 3 to 4 leaf stage. My earlier seeded beans are in the third trifoliate stage and later seeded beans at the first trifoliate stage. Some guys who got some big rains in central Manitoba are reseeding canola even at this time of the year. Crusted soils, flea beetles, grass hoppers and excess rain to blame.
Anybody hear any news on the development of rust yet. I was thinking of adding pivot to my oat herbicide mix. My crop is late and I think vulnerable to rust especially my oat crop. Its a strange feeling to go from panicking to get the crop in before the crop deadlines after the flood to a feeling of relief and actual hope of a big crop. Never experienced that change in emotions before. We sure have an interesting career guys!

Feeling a little caught up with work here and yesterday ended up being a bit drizzly so did a bit of a crop check. Barley was sown first and is in the 6 to 7 leaf stage so is jointing and looking pretty good except for the low spots and compacted areas. Oats are 5 leaf now and givin' er. Canola is finally starting to cabbage, still not as many plants as I would have liked but other than flooded out spots is looking like it should make a crop. Took a couple pics of the barley and canola.

That looks pretty good Gary. I have only sprayed two canola fields that were a bit better than yours, everything else is way worse.

Just started doing our first spraying of the year, wheat. Hilly ground so dried a bit better. Brother is in the sprayer, field is one big hill, he left and I haven’t seen him for half an hour, hopefully he’s not stuck! lol. Some fields around here that have been sprayed the last couple of days are ruts from one end to the other. I wouldn’t do it if it was my field, just me. Oh, I see the sprayer, that’s a good sign!

This half section oat field had 2 feet of water on it three weeks ago from the flood. Land was black as mid night after the flood waters retreated so nothing really for weeds on it yet. This was some of the shallower water covered fields. Some places the water was at least 15 feet deep, but mostly 3-5 feet deep. After I seeded the crop I had two 5 tenth rains so , so far so good. I ll try and load a few flood pictures. tried a few but the forum says they are to big.

It's a pain, but what I do to upload is switch to desktop mode and then you'll see a upload photo button on the bottom of the reply screen. Then you can upload any size.

Should get all the wheat done today, made decent time considering the fields are broken up bad to begin with, then lots of turning around wet spots. Did a surprisingly good job, very few ruts. Wheat is looking good, just fairly late.

I concur on the "Late" description. All these crops are late regardless if they look okay or not.
I'd rate my crop below average, some worse. although it is improving in recent dry weather.

Beautiful country you got kevlar! Nice wheat crop to boot! A quick question , In canola what stage should a guy top dress dry or liquid N. Is bolting too late. I have done at 5-6 leaf or full cabbage but in the end it was hard to see a response because it was dry.
I was banking on my soil test originally but was concerned about the flood impact on N levels. I put on 92-30-0 lb actual. Soil test showed 45lb N so wondering to let it be or be more aggressive to chase yield.

This is a three week change from flood to a crop! Picture taken around same area on top of a pad in the farm yard. That water level stretched for at least 40 miles south at this time and was close to 15 miles wide at the peak. Also concerning it was taken at the beginning of June. It is a miracle the crop is there and catching up to the early seeded crop outside the flood area.

Early planted wheat is heading out here. Not trying to brag. Just wondering how long it will be before you guys with the higher heat unit areas catch up.
We have had good conditions so far. Getting a lot of rain lately. Quite a few places not that far from here have crops that are yellowing from too much moisture. Hoping for some heat now.

Had to take a run to North battleford the other day. Around Cochin there's canola in full bloom and just North of North Battleford the canola is bolting, cereals in flag. They seem to be getting just the right amount of rain there. Here, I just sprayed a small 70 acre canola field - got 38 acres, the rest was too wet and the plants are stunted and/or disappearing.
