Ratchet wrenches tighten in the direction the open end points to, at least mine do. That's Mastercraft ones but maybe others are different, or the gremlins got in your toolbox and randomized yours. LOL Holy smokes, thank you. I didn't know that! That must be me always grabbing the wrench in the way that gets me a better grip that makes it ratchet the wrong way. We need an "Unsolved Mysteries SOLVED" thread now.... Oh my, did I actually solve a mechanical problem... Now if I could solve my mic problem, maybe I'm holding it and rotating it wrong. Although we don't want to solve all the problems, would be nothing to complain about then.

My wife. 😬 If I’m never heard from again, it’s because she seen this!!! 😵 This seems appropriate.

I've replaced a good dozen feedline motors between our barns in the last 2 or 3 years. All but one of them went out between 4:30pm Friday and 11:30pm Sunday.

That’s like a few years ago I replaced 5 vehicle batteries one spring.

This reminded me how many times something has went down on Friday afternoon of the long weekend. I’ve said before that long weekends should be outlawed but I don’t say it out loud much anymore because not many agree haha.

I think it’s like when you take something in for repair and it’s only ever happened to you never seen that before they are usually very reliable

Here’s a great mystery that happened today. Last spring we got a new to us New Holland 9880. Changed one wheel seal, and all fluids front to back. Was starting to get close to spring so time was getting short, and when we drained the last final drive, we found a bunch of metal on the magnetic drain plug. Got a sick feeling, but it was pretty much go time so couldn’t just pull it apart. Thought I would keep a close eye on it all spring. Checked it a couple times and it seemed fine. Have it in the shop now to take it apart, drained the oil and oil is clean and not a speck of metal on the magnet. Thinking there has to be something wrong still we decided to go ahead and take it all apart. It doesn’t look like it’s ever been apart with paint still on the bolts and silicone. Looks absolutely mint inside, not a chip or flake off any gears or bearings, looks brand new. Only thing we can think of is it must have been like that from the factory and possibly nobody has ever changed the oil or pulled out the drain plug to clean it. It had much more than just the usual bit of silver on it, like actual chunks of metal. Wonder if it was from when they threaded the hole for the plug? A nice surprise I guess, in stead of finding something exploding in there, but confusing nonetheless. Where it came from will remain a mystery.

I hear your pain, it's happened to me on Friday at 4:30pm too. However, I replaced a feed motor, yesterday, Monday morning. I even had the new motor on hand and a new pinion gear to boot!

No, have not tried that type of thing before but have seen it. I also don't like things swinging or bouncing around to the point that I won't use the swivel on a tractor seat, I like it when it's locked in place.
I actually don't mind it when I grab the mic and it rotates in my hand to find center again, just never could figure out why it happens. Maybe I hang it one way and remove it different, or maybe it doesn't spin as much as I think.

And then as it cools the tension goes back the other way?

I find that the telephone handset coily cord gets the same way, so every so often it has to be untangled too!

Why does the waitress/waiter always come to ask how the meal is RIGHT AFTER you take the hugest mouthful of food? Are they teaching them to do this somewhere???

Why is it always too cold or yucky out to do any work, but as soon as it turns nice out, it's too nice to be working? Maybe that's something that comes with aging?
