I remember a few times when I was in school that we got shut down for snow. Just meant I had to actually work.
I think we got 17-18”. Hard to say as it was blowing around. The stuff we got yesterday was heavy and is hard to push. We had ordered a blade for the front of the tractor but haven’t got it yet. Would have been handy with the amount of snow we got. My skid steer with a snow pusher has its hands full. Works really good for 4-6” of snow.

Our school district finds any excuse to shut the bus's down it seems. Today it was the snow. When I took it to school they never shut down. I remember once getting stuck in a neighbors driveway and they had us all get off and help push it out. Under the tarp in the back is my 2002 T-Cat - with some mods. Snowchecked that old girl back in the day and now it only gets maybe 1 tank of fuel thru it a year. The SKS is the wife' s sled

So far we've had gorgeous weather down south here for the last two or three weeks. Ground isn't frozen very much yet, so I've gotten a lot wire put in the ground to support the new shop. And a lot of gravel hauled. Getting all kinds of outdoor things done and grateful for it! Last year by this time, it had gotten cold and stayed cold and nothing happened after the end of October. All the snow I piled up last month after the big blizzard is about half gone. I'm really shocked. No snow or any weather forecast for the next 10 days or so. Bizarrely, calling for 15 C a week from now, but I don't think we'll see it.
I guess the down side is it's getting quite dry in the fields. Much of the moisture from the heavy snow was taken by the wind.

You'd think ag reporters would be able to read a weather probability map. Looking at that there's only a pocket in SW Saskatchewan that's forecast to have a slight probability of above average snowfall. The rest of the agricultural region of western Canada has less than a 50% chance of above average snow.

The weather here has been absolutely beautiful! Long range has us above freezing every day. Was so nice for deer season, maybe too nice as I dozed off sitting in the sun watching for deer few times, but sooo much better than freezing your balls off at -30 and shaking so bad you couldn't shoot anything anyways. Only downfall is we have only an inch of snow, would be so nice sledding right now with the temps and the full moon, but I guess we can't have it all.

We have a good base to sled on but it’s been warm here last few days and it’s been sinking down and gonna be rough once it turns cold again.

How is everyone's winter going so far? Been unbelievably beautiful here so far, touch wood. A couple of cold nights where we had to plug vehicles and maybe 5 cooler days but not bad. Only bad part is there might be maybe 5-6 inches of snow, but that is going down a little each day, wish we had more to ride on with this nice weather. Has been a lot of cloudy days and now some foggy ones, but still getting around zero. Long range looks like more of the same, if true will get us almost through January, have never seen it like this. Probably a good thing as the kids are having outdoor phys-ed this year because of covid. Only pushed snow once, and gravel too as there was nothing packed down on top of the gravel before we did get enough to push. Have some grain to haul next week, thought it would be -30 when they called for it, but got lucky.

Winter has been good here so far also. Had a couple days down close to -30 but otherwise it's been nice. Enough snow to ride sleds around here and north of me up along the sask river is supposed to be really nice. Might head that way tomorrow with a group of guys. Haven't really had to push snow since the big snow we got in November. Most years we have our local bonspiel around the 15-20th and the weather turns warm and makes our ice a little heavier. Lots of years it's had to be postponed. They even tried having it the week later a few years but it still turned warm on us. Seems like it gets warm or it's -40 for it No happy medium.

So far January has been warmer than October was so it seems lol. Last few weeks been nice. Had some real nasty shit early on including heavy dumps of snow. Hardly any snow left here in open, almost bare ground in places particularly summerfallow ect. Yard and more is absolutely a skating rink, so icy, with my bad knee makes for even more difficult walking lol. Having trouble in places pulling the silage wagon with the big MFWD, never mind scratching to get up the hills, oh my, four wheel drift coming back down, almost to the point of having the put on the chains lol
