Yeah, that was crazy. I was driving west down a gravel road and thought a grain truck was ahead of me but the road dust was getting blown up. No truck coming just a mile of dust getting blown up

No truck coming just a mile of dust getting blown up Lots of dust devils ! Sign of dryness . I wonder how many above 60 kilometre winds we have had this fall ! Even had several 80 k winds

A really nice open fall is finally over. Lots of time to get things done but still somehow manage to leave yard cleanup till the last minute, was out until 2AM putting stuff away last night and nearly got hypothermia this morning in the rain and wet snow finishing the job. I know I'm not the only guy like this because my neighbor brought my pulldozer over late last night and left quick because he had lots to do yet...lol
Still a few stones to pick but looking like that won't happen now, will have to be careful on the snowmobiles if we get enough snow to ride this winter. Wind is howling pretty good now, should fill the ditches up to get things going.
Would suck to be a cow for this week or any wild animal. Does anyone bother bedding in a storm? I always figure what's the point, just be ready to bed really well once the wind and snow stop.

We dont generally bed the cattle in a storm. They are going to be standing by the fence out of the wind anyway. Our cows are in the bush and eating corn so its pretty decent for them out there. As my son mentioned the calves we have left around for replacements and to sell finished have never really even been through a storm as last winter was pretty mild. He said they probably dont even know what snow is.

Our first snow came about a week and a half ago ... and stayed, even through a couple plus 6 days. Speaking of $$$$$ , er I mean cattle, ha. Ya, they usually stand together during storms and you may as well wait until after. Cows usually don't need bedding until temps drop a lot more.

Got home from work last night and in the yard we have around 15" of snow everywhere in the yard. Ditches are full and there are finger drifts from 1 to 2' high on the roads. Haven't had a storm like this in a long time. It could of waited till next week...terminal called Monday afternoon and said I could start hauling my Dec contracts. Would of been much nicer to have hauled when there was no snow...but that's farming. told them it won't be till next week as I have a bit of plowing to do to open up the yard for the semis. See they are forecasting more snow Sat and Sunday tho.

About an inch of rain in Morris . No snow . We were on the edge of the rain / snow . Carman had a trace of snow . Might soak in ok yet . Had to laugh when you ( hard rock ) said the elevator called ! It always seems to work out that way . Or cleaning grain ! That is a sure thing in lousy weather !

We appear to be in the middle of the mess from a roads perspective, although we didn't get as much snow as others are saying. Didn't haul grain Monday/Tuesday because roads were wet and didn't want to make a mess before freeze-up, might be looking at next week now.

I see your map shows the trans Canada is closed through Brandon but the updated map shows its open but ... a ways west of Brandon to the Sask border its still closed. How often to they actually close the trans Canada ?. And as to your area its all listed as closed, so I don't expect your elevator to be very busy today. I also assume that the roads will be shit under that snow if they have not froze even if its now colder as the snow will insulate for a bit until its plowed off or driven on to pack it down. That's always the shits when it snows before the gravel roads freeze, can make a real god awful mess as the roads can get all rutted up first ... then freeze and be crap all winter unless the grader is scraping gravel off the road to smoothen it, that has rarely happened here thankfully.
