The problem with soybeans is not getting a few inches of rain in august ! Last year I had a beautiful stand going into august but no rain . End up with 28 bpa This year we got those rains . The size of the bean makes a huge difference .
I think so to , the plant genetics for soybeans is far surpassing canola genetics ! More money in bean research in North America .
Cereals are lagging behind especially winter wheat !

We've found the opposite to be true, I almost always do better on canola stubble than soybean. Never found a nitrogen use difference but the bean stubble is always way tighter/clumpier. Have no tilled cereals into both, min tilled, and full tillage and canola stubble is always more mellow and seeds nicer in spring. The tighter ground from last year's beans fared way worse in this springs monsoons, wheat was visually yellower on the bean stubble. Only had 1 bean stubble field match the canola stubble, everything else was 5-10bu lower.

Our rain shut off late July and it hurt the beaners. There's a load of beans there but they are small. An inch or two in August would've been huge. Yields are average, certainly nothing to write home about.

Well , I started with breakfast a few hours ago in line at Paterson and now I will stop for lunch in an hour or two ! Is that definition of an insane farmer waiting line at the elevator?

Corn is starting to come off here as of last week. A couple farms at least. 25% moisture for one of them anyway. We're in soybeans. Kinda hampered by green low spots though.

Nice. Next week full steam ahead on the corn. I like to start at 28% catching up on fieldwork this week.

Finished soybeans last night.
Time to set up everything around the dryer and then go pull some cobs and see if we start corn tomorrow or if it's time to sit in a tractor for a few days.
Hoping the corn is ~27 or less. Hammer down then.

Maybe his pressure is too low . I ran my pressure quite high . 1900 psi. Didn’t miss anything cutting two inches off the ground . Beans podded high this year with the planter . It also allows us to drive faster . My neighbour had his dragging the ground and had to drive 3.5 mph We were in that 4.5 -5 mph I kept trying to tell the French connection to slow down !!!!! Harvest went so smoothly it was a joy ! I truly believe the planter is hands down the best way to seed beans !! In poor years you don’t see the difference but on bumper years , the planter out yields the disc drill ! Glad you got your beans done Calder . Man I can’t imagine harvesting 30 percent moisture corn . Good thing fuel has. One down in price this year . If beans are 40-60 bpa range this year corn should do quite well ! Do you think 175 bpa dry bushels is possible . I thought corn took all the moisture well in June and July . It’s nice to end of on a good note . This year I might ask my friend if I can ride along in his combine . I have no idea what corn harvest is like ! Cold morning !

Do you work your canola stubbles just ones with your S7? We tried that last year on a couple fields (1 canola stubble and 1 wheat stubble) and those 2 fields were struggeling the most with all the rain we had this year, so i am debating myself if i should give it another try or work all fields shallow.

Open them up. You’ll thank me later. I said before I tried to zero till in the RRV. 25 years ago. I stoped cuz the chem bill was throw the roof and the water don’t go down. You may get by on canola stubble.. everything else open it up.

Did about 20 acres last night just to get enough so I could start the dryer this morning. Outside rounds were like 17.5% moisture. Once in the field where the plants were still quite green it went up to around 20-21%. Should be able to giver today!
