My 5440 tank has just started leaking barley steady into the airstream, wasn’t doing it yesterday. Noticed when I got out to check something and it’s coming out the seed boots pretty steady. I found one of the clean out plates was loose so tightened it up and that seemed to have helped, for a bit. Got going again after supper and it’s doing it again, after sitting I started the fan and a bunch blew out like the pipe had been full. It’s just the seed, using rear and middle tanks, just single shoot tank. It seems like it’s somehow running directly into the pipe. If the pressure tube in the tank was cracked or off at the bottom cause this? I’ll be done barley tonight and will empty the tank for canola and can go inside to look. Just noticed now it’s not as bad because it’s getting close to empty, at least when I’m turning it’s not as obvious.

As I was reading I was thinking the tube could be off or broken. Glad you found it.

Was there a hose clamp or supposed to be one for that connection or do they just shove it on and that was supposed to be sufficient ?

Had a problem with our canola rate on our 7700 tank this year. Couldn’t find anything wrong but it would calibrate fine but not seed heavy enough. And would be consistently light. Changed metering auger to the new ultra low output and it helped some but still wasn’t right. Finally while I was doing a calibration trying to figure it out I realized the scale got zeroed instead of having the weight of the pail added in. 3lbs difference in weight on a cal messes up the rate. 🤦. Glad we figured it out and it wasn’t a problem with how it was metering. We have a scale on our saddle tank so we could check it every few acres. Had to set rate at 6lbs to get just over 4 seeded.
It’s always been dead on for canola every other year so figured something must be wrong. Then we had that meter drive give out on us so we’re worried for a bit.

In about 35 years of having Bourgault air seeders that’s a first time for us. Only time they give us problems it’s usually the guy running it 😒

Should be a hose clamp on there but we have had them rot and fall off before. That would be the true test all right if a hose clamp is really 100% stainless steel as well as the screw, often I see where the screw is not and it rusts in a bad environment. But I think that would be the key is to finding a clamp that is ALL stainless steel. Also then if a hose clamp rusts/falls off in the tank where is it ... if it made it past the metering system and jammed up in a seed distribution tower or made it into one of the seed run hoses.

I can't get my canola rate below 5 lbs/acre on my 3195 bourgault cart, I made a 92 tooth sprocket for the 138 cart that would get it closer to 4 lbs, but it doesn't seem to matter on the 3195. I am thinking the pressurizing is blowing the canola out of the tank at a higher rate than when calibrating with no pressurization?

Found ours still on the tube it goes on. Hopefully that is where Kevlars is as well, just slipped down to the bottom of the pipe I assume that extends out of the bottom of the tank ( I've never looked inside of that brand of cart )

It’s just a plastic hose barb it fits on with a bulkhead fitting to the outside.

If the auger is worn some i could see the canola running out more then it should when its pressurized.

It’s just a plastic hose barb it fits on with a bulkhead fitting to the outside. That surprises me that it would come off after being clamped and assuming taking somewhat of a mould to the barbed fitting, however loading the tank no doubt puts some pressure on the hose to loosen up and pop off when the hose has fan pressure at some point, like today was that day !. At least it was caught and figured out.

Or is it calibrating lower than the actual seeding rate?
