Small cylinder that controls end cap on silage chopper spot $650.
Two speed gear box on chopper head $9000 shipped from Germany. That ran on low side last third of silage harvest. I'll tear into it this winter.

Hey Optimally. Why don’t you try a proximity switch they use in feed lines in hog barns? I installed one in my air seeder tank close to the bottom of tank. That way I know when seed is almost gone. Most of them run on 110 volts so I use an inverter in the cab.

It is now a low priority as we finished combining yesterday, YAY I am going to do some surgery on this unit to see why it failed, it came on and won't turn off, looks like a simple led emitter and detector setup. The proximity switch is a good idea too that I will look into as I doubt the sensor will survive the procedure!

Now that I know it’s my flighting that caused my auger issue, I called Mazer about the 17’ flighting. $2743.46 out of Regina. Called local Farm Service and they can get a farm king 21’ piece for $781.00. Accutwist out of Rosenort custom made for under $400.

Holy crap, I didn't think it was going to be cheap at the dealer but that is completely retarded. So Accutwist, they would be making a new shaft with flighting welded on and whatever coupler collar that is on the top and solid stub on the bottom ( unless that is a solid shaft ? ) for that price ?

Parts were $168 and labour is $100/hr. They figured not more than two hours.

I do find accutwist isn't the quickest turn around so just don't leave it until the week you need to use it. I think they make their money making cross augers for macdon

Isn’t it satisfying when you save yourself that kind of money instead of just getting screwed by a dealership?

Isn’t it satisfying when you save yourself that kind of money instead of just getting screwed by a dealership? Usually yes but they'll get/screw it out of you someway or another service or another part you have to choice to buy from them or it aint getting fixed i paid $54 for 4 3/4 by 6 long bolts with stover nut yesterday seems alittle expensive for four bolts normally would have waited till i got to bolt supply house but i needed now for the air drill

If you have time to wait you can find better prices but when you need it you just pay it.

I don’t know if I shared this but a few years ago I needed a carb kit for my 1020 John Deere gas tractor. Local JD quoted over $300. I started walking out while saying I would check online. The parts guy said wait, I’ll check with A and I. $30 . How can a couple of gaskets, needle and seat and a spring cost $300?
