clippping along at a good pace now. Moisture 9.5 . man it’s hard to estimate canola . Another semi load and it’s a good 50bpa. Kevlar and Meski should have 70 based on your stand !!! Gary’s got a solid 75!!!! Hah. The one picture makes it look like you have a pull type combine.

Lol Kevlar , you guys need an enns bros up in you neck of the woods!! My neighbour just bought a new beauty of a new Holland combine ! They are a good combine , I mean pretty good , but service is too far away got my liking!!! I use to run two twin rotors and they were a night mare for service . Winkler parts sucked, steinbach was not much better . Portage was ok and Brandon was the best !

We have an Enns in Brandon and my cousin works at the one in Neepawa, still won’t get me in green! lol. Have always liked New Holland, but like with most companies, as they get bigger, they don’t have to bend over backwards for you, service for the most part is pretty good but sometimes could use a little improvement.

What is feed barley fetching these days? Glad I sold a couple loads to a feedlot for $7.60 about a month ago--for Nov. delivery. Just heard they dropped their price to $6.20/bu

Since the rains we last Tues all the barley around here is coming off as feed, Terminal is finding sprouting and the chitting is anywhere from 20-30%...with some samples as high as 50%. Be lots of of feed as there wasn't much combined prior to the rains. terminal is offering 7.25 for malt, and has raised the % of chitted allowed. Still offering 6 at the feed lots for Oct/Nov delivery but likely not for much longer. Lucky we were able to get 75% of our brly off as malt but the rest is not as good. On wheat now and seems to be yielding ok, but of course the elevator said the sample "might still make a #1 grade but it has some pieball and bleaching" - anything to take a bit more from your pocket.

$7.10 malt and $5.90 feed at local elevator. Doubt anyone will get malt around here since none came off before the rains. Wheat still going lower for no "news" in the markets.
Yes, it's all relative Meskie to where our grandparents landed. The guys farming 10,000 plus acres roll into the field beside me with 4 or 5 combines with some years on them and class 8 or some 9. Don't see a brand new machine of any paint color near me and if someone did do that, it would not be the biggest of the line.
The late seeded canola still green here and there is lots of cabbage moths flying around it and so some wandering into my crop. I have never seen this amount of these white things before, can see a 100 of them near the combine at any given time. Do these things pose an issue to crops or perhaps set up a pest issue for next year. Don't see them much in other fields, just green canola.

The bushel weight on our peas was good, but sounds like the barley is going to be a little lighter this year. Like some of you guys are saying, too much rain or rain close to harvest doesn't do us any favors when it comes to grain quality. Apparently the elevators want 52 lb/bu or heavier when it is going for export. Last year all the grain was really heavy. Lots of wheat came off weighing at least 65 lbs/bu. When I was hauling last winter, quite often the superB wasn't more than half full of wheat and the air gauges told me I was loaded. Start second guessing yourself when that happens! We are swathing barley right now because it is uneven and some pretty badly lodged. Little too much groceries for all the rain we got this summer. lol Neighbor just harvested some wheat yesterday (first in the area that I know of) and wasn't impressed with the yield. Hope that is not going to be the trend for our area. Crops look nice, but someone once told me that looks can be deceiving!

Dad just got a couple calls from pig barns offering $8.00 picked up. Don’t be giving it away. I always see selling grain to the elevator as a last resort.

Since it’s wet up your way is that a concern for you! No pig barn would touch 2% . I had some at 8%. Seed ex took it gradually over the year. It was one hell of a pain in the ……! Wheat same thing although last 4 years it’s been a mute problem. I remember back in the 90s guys burnt 40 bushel per acre wheat swaths because the disease was so bad . These reasons made me a strictly oat farmer with a few canola and bean acres! That goes for canary seed and millet! I have seen thick swaths of those crops burnt up on purpose !!!! Interesting how our experiences shape us!

Just seen that the drought in Canada has caused pasta prices to soar 🙄. Guess nobody told the mills that they should be paying more
