There must be local suppliers for these things or Canada based places a guy can order from. I end up welding inside a slopped out hole and die grinding to clean up but would rather like to grind out a messed up hole, put a bushing in, give it a weld and feel better about my patch job. But I can't find where to get bushings.

Got any local machine shops close to you? They might know where to source them or have some in stock.

I pretty much manufacture what I need and when it needs to be precise or fit something I can't cut out then I get the neighborhood machinist to make me one. ALways scrounging junk piles for chunks of high sched pipe to make different ones. Sometimes will cut the whole original bushing out and weld in a completely new piece of steel too. Like everything else, fairly assorted new/used steel inventory here lol I also can drill up to 2 inch in my press, so that gives me some extra ability to make my own too.

Calling a machine shop is my fall back plan. I figure machine shops must order from somewhere but can't seem to find any suppliers unless I count the ones with address in China.
I don't have any pipe here that would be considered high tensile, and I figure if I am going to track down some good pipe to cut up for a bushing then I may as well track down actual bushings and get them sent to me. If I can't find a local place to order from then I will probably call Russell Metals and get a few pieces of pipe with the ID I am thinking of.
Mainly wanted to find out if there is a supplier that I can't seem to find with on line searching.

CW Carry handles it, but they don't sell small bits. I don't remember what the minimum is, usually get it from my welder if I need small stuff.

Where do you order it from farmshop? Just curious to know for future reference.
There is a little welding / machine shop nearby I will talk with. Otherwise Regina will have a machine shop that should sell me some tube stock. My concern is if am ordering one or two feet of tubing anywhere in Regina I expect to see a minimum order fee where as a online business setup specifically for that type of supply may have no issues.

Dunno how often you go to Saskatoon but Steelmet Supply sells steel by the foot, they might have something you can use. steelmet.net/

I order bathing stock from discountsteel. They are close to me so I can get stuff in a day or 2. They have an online store that you can order cut lengths. Not the cheapest but convenient

Ok, thanks guys. Local repair shop says Allwyn Steel in Regina can help me out with that kind of stock. Haven't been there for years so will find out.

I forgot about these guys. Way overpriced, but for pins and bushings maybe. Metal supermarket.

I'm kind of curious just what all are these bushings you all are replacing that you need such a supply? Its something I maybe do once or twice here or there, and maybe every one or two every few years. Not being a dick, just honestly asking.
Perhaps I'm too much of a cheap see you next tuesday, was thinking earlier how for an Ezee On loader, I made some by drilling out the threads of sucker rod boxes. Its not a repair job that really comes up very often is all.

Most of what I do is modifying things for a specific use. For example while rebuilding a round bale trailer I upsized axle spindles but rather then welding the spindles in I welded sleeves in and bolted the spindles to sleeves. If I don’t like how something is built when it comes time to fix it I try to improve it. If I had a lathe it would be easier

I don't claim to ever be the best metal worker so here are a few instances: Pins that lift the cutting edge on Cat 70 scraper oblonged holes about 1". Welded those in and ground roundish. Makes blade cut and lift even. 4000 swather 1/2 or 3/4 pins that lift header oblonged the holes in frame, weld and grind. Makes header lift even. Have a shear bolt on snow blower that has sheared about 70 times. Too small from factory. Drilled out and put bigger bolt in but that hole is now all slopped out so need to bush it. Bourgault 8800 cultivator tongue has about 1" of metal left at front of tongue so need to do some fill in that hole pretty soon. Hitch tongues on gravity wagons getting elongated. Wouldnt mind addressing those before they get ugly.
Welding and grind works but I would like to think a bushing would make things nicer in the end. In the case of the snowblower, I did bush my hole with what I could find at Princess Auto but that bushing broke out. If a shear bolt doesn't shear cleanly then then it makes a mess of the hole.
Even the blade on the 4020 is sloping holes out on the lift ram. That one is no big deal. But popping some bushings in and welding just makes for a nicer job.
Some jobs don't need to be done, some can be done a different way. I wouldn't mind trying some bushings though to find out what option works better.

Yep get what you're doing Ken, my point it, there is so much variance in everything from bushing thickness, length, and of course pin diameter, this is where trying to stock inventory kind of befuddles me...its usually very specific to application is my point. Thats why I do keep some basic stuff around, but nine out of ten times they are made to fit.
Just wanted to understand the logic is all and now you know mine lol
