The camera is a nice addition for sure. Saves lots of climbing and reduces slip and fall hazards. Also a few lights on the auger. I have two at the top, one at the gearbox aimed at the intake and one to light up engine controls.

good day.. I bought one of those wireless camera s that hook to the end of the auger and can load the trailer without getting out to see into the box ,, just have to stop the auger to move to the back trailer.. saves Lot and lots of climbing in and out the truck and up the ladder..! 54$ from China delivered, hooks right to the phone only need 12volt on the auger... Range is a couple of 100 feet at least. if you want you can wonder around the bin yard just watching your phone ...It is pretty cool for a old guy to figure it out... You got a link to that one? The one I tried is out of range by the time you load the back of the trailer

The 37hp vanguard on a 10 by 46 meridian auger does lack a bit of power when loading 13% soybeans. No problems with oats or canola in regards to power. I still like my set up I have and so far the engine has caused no concerns mechanically. Although, My next motor i will consider a small diesel, especially if I ever grow corn and need to move 20% grain.
Welcome to the forum 10inch topsoil!

Multitasking while loading grain sounds like a good idea in theory but for some reason if i start greasing the combine or something all of a sudden I have a mess to clean up by the truck. I like to rest in the hopper bin shade while loading maybe drink a pepsi and watch for any B.S that could happen like an over filling grain hopper! HA HA

A camera like that on an auger, does it shake/vibrate the camera so the picture looks awful or how does it seem. Also is it possible to get a wireless monitor to set up in the cab rather then having to use a phone at all.

Ours doesn’t shake or vibrate at all on the auger. I’m sure you can get a monitor for it but I prefer the phone. We have a camera or 3 different augers on two load outs and at the top on our swing away for putting in bins and the same app works for all of them. Also if a trucker comes in they can watch if they have the app

Got our auger home yesterday, just need to get the motor and mover put onto it. Can't wait to try it out! Was hoping to get it done this week but tweaked my back today so won't be doing that. Certainly not something you would move around by hand!

I wasn't sure what way you ultimately decided to set the auger up so is it still with the theme of trying the 10 HP electric motor to see what happens, how easy it stalls out or does perform ok with that amount of power. Also what is the mover you are putting on it, was it one you already have around made for a 10" auger or a smaller one and adapting it on or a new unit specific to the auger size.

Yes going to try the 10 horse motor to begin with. Will move the mover from a8 inch auger, looks to be pretty easy as the new auger has all the mounting points already built in so just the matter of a few bolts. Only real thing I can see that requires some thought is mounting the hydraulic oil tank. Then of course need to switch the rims and tires as it doesn’t have the ring gear. And maybe a coat of fresh paint on the mover.

Got the motor mounted today and gave it a try with barley. Never got the mover put on yet, was a little too impatient! Moved a 4000 bushel bin of barley to another so we can dry a bit more, not too tough, if we had air we wouldn't have had to but the crew never showed up this fall to install it. Ran the auger about half full for the first bit, would guess close to what a 8 inch would be, slowly kept speeding it up and the motor stayed cool, I had to leave part way through the bin so I don't know if my brother ever ran it full. Even 3/4 full it would be a good jump up from an 8 inch. Barley, oats and canola are our main crops so I'm certain it should work fine. If I was one of those guys that you see flipping combine tires over end for end and call it exercise, I could move it without a mover. I am not one of those men. It was a good job for two of us to move it. That will be next on the list, right after cutting off the safety cage on the intake.

Are the safety cages still welded on those? Our meridian was bolted so much easier to remove.
Watch the auger in canola also our Westfield would sometimes auger canola hard at times for some reason. Must of been a combination of moisture of the grain and the weather while doing it.

Don't worry too much about motor temp. On big electric motors that I would deal with we would set the thermal trip at around 125 deg C. Even the oldest motors with lowest rated insulation were 95 deg C trip. What a person thinks is hot and what actually is hot for electric insulation are very different. The best way is to measure the current, and check voltage near motor terminals or the motor cord if the current is getting high. But the fact that the motor is cool to the touch means you are a long, long way from working the motor.
This 10x46 meridian I have with the 38hp Kohler is working ok for me. Had the auger in a bin of peas and was able to disengage and reengage the clutch with the auger at full capacity without any problem, ran engine about 3/4 speed when when engaging clutch and didn't seem to struggle to get going.
Also had the Meridian guys back a couple weeks ago and they installed new flights in the hopper of the 10x72 swing. They are noticeably different in that there is more of an obvious cup formed between the fighting and the shaft. But haven't used the auger since to see how it performs. Probably won't be till spring till I try it.

Are the safety cages still welded on those? I would guess it's only welded on in about 30 places .
I can't figure out why they can't make those things more user friendly. There is no need for them to be as big and cumbersome as they are, an auger this size they could have fit the cage between the larger bars and it would still work, they might have to make the holes a little bit larger, but honestly, the only real reason for them is to save limbs, not fingers, and everyone knows you shouldn't even be near that end when it's running anyway. No wonder they all get removed. In all my years I can only remember seeing one left in place by a guy I used to haul grain for once in awhile. Should make a poll to see how many guys take them off. My guess would be 99%.
