Yeah. 17’2”. Is a little high for me. Too many overhead bridges and power lines. Need something 15’. Or 15’6”. To be safe. Bridges are a problem for sure, but those power lines, don't even notice them when you snag one!

It's a 60 foot machine on 9" spacing with midrows.

Swman. I pretty sure you’re old drill folds 15’6” high 17’ wide.

I can back up far enough to start up seeding and not leave a miss, but once it starts to jackknife it's over. They are working on a hitch mechanism to lock it for hills and such, I have not seen this but it might allow for backing up then.

Set up for double shoot yesterday, did flax today and into canola tomorrow. One-pass into wheat stubble working really well actually. Some of the earlier wheat is up too, looks okay for the year and better every day.

Are you putting all the fertilizer down with this or did you broadcast anything ahead? Sure leaves a nice finish. Be done in few days?

What’s with the notes? On the front of the drill.

I put fertilizer down ahead for the cereals but now for flax and canola I'm mid-row banding urea. Very pleased with the field finish and seed placement. Slipclutch it's a prototype so that's the operators manual! For version 2.0 just spraypaint over and write the updated protocols...lol

On the topic of transport height they are re-working the frame pivot points and dropping over a foot off the transport height of the 60' unit(and others). Several other minor but nice changes coming too, not sure what I'm supposed to talk about right now though...ha ha Turns out zero-tilling this year was the right move, got a nice catch on my oilseeds. Very happy with the opener, best opener out there from what I have seen and tried. Couple pictures: Flax at 1 bu/acre seed rate, May 28, picture two days ago. L233P Canola seeded June 1, 2.2#/acre 4.2TSW, picture also two days ago. Both these are on the dry part of my farm, they are started nice but will begin to need more moisture soon or it won't be so pretty...

Yes looks fine. That flax is coming along at a good pace. Put mine in around May 7th and isn't that much further ahead. About the only difference I can tell between seeding flax in early May vs late May is my preseed burn off is pretty much a waste of money in early May and so my chemical costs and weed control are bigger issues. Really not buying the line that seeding early maximizes yield. Not where I am anyway. Not when a crop seeded 2 weeks later can pretty much catch up by end of June. It's a good line for selling inputs though. There are some years that no doubt seeding early helps but that ultimately comes down to when rains come or a heat wave.

Hey SWman is that your K-hart rig in the western Producer. They called it a spider fold up tool bar. Based on your photos of your crop that unit looks like it did a bang up job.

I don't get the Western Producer, but if it's a 60' drill and has a Challenger tractor or New Holland tank it's probably mine. Yeah I am pretty happy with the job it did considering the dry year. I have a few canola fields where the headlands didn't have as much straw and the one pounding rain caused some crusting there, but overall it exceeded my expectations.
