Certainly puzzling, actually before I was thinking you meant he was meeting someone in a vehicle so in fact he was trying to find a residence. I guess it could be all innocent as far as how your yard became involved in the picture but like you said that worry about this animal activist group which is another insane sort of thing to have to worry about as no one should be able to enter someones property who isn't invited and has ulterior motives. What does the police even do with those nuts cases, can they charge them and make their life a living hell for screwing around with breaking into farm animal operations to I assume film.
20 miles from me so basically "local", not something that happens in small town Iowa. Guy that shot the trooper apparently was a raging alcoholic and also had a failed attempt at running for Grundy County Sheriff last November. To bad the tactical team at the end didn't finish the job.
You know how in the movies they make jokes about men getting their peckers caught in their zippers and they jump around and scream? You actually just stand there completely silent and afraid to move a muscle. Just found that out today.

Nothing interesting today, but its only 1pm. Yesterday on the other hand started with a call first thing in the morning to help one neighbor change a rotor belt on the combine. About 8 ac left of course. Started looking and he needs more than a rotor belt. So off to get the massey out of the shop. Ok, but he wants to drop the straw. Straw chopper was easy enough when he got out of my way lol. The aftermarket chaff spreader was a pita. Mounts with two 2" receiver style tubes and no way to put one or 2 floor jacks under it to support it. He is off to get the tractor again to yank it off, sigh. Better yet just get me a couple of ratchet straps, finesse goes along way. Ok its off and he is combining. Off to the other neighbors to help move furniture out of the basement as they sold the house and land and are moving to town. Get that done and just sitting down to enjoy a well deserved beer and the neighbor to the west of me phones. The neighbor to the south of me is on fire. Shit. Made that 6 miles home pretty quick just to be greeted by the cops telling me I can't go in and talk to the fire department. I would have to walk in only. It wasn't far, but time was more important. Told him I have the tractor and loader to help move stuff around since the guy has lots of stuff scattered everywhere. Just radio the fire chief and ask her. He couldn't be bothered. f*ck you. Drive through the field of his that I rent and come into the back of the yard. Two minutes in found the fire chief, and was on my way home to get the tractor since the hoe was a good hour out. Spent around 4 hours there along with the hoe and FD trying to get hot spots out. My neighbor is 87 or 89, but lost everything except his house and a old house that he has some antiques in. 40x60 pole shop loaded with tools, equipment, etc. A life time of stuff plus several out buildings. Still trying to think of all the equipment and cars that he had. Not sure if he still had his deceased sons harley still in the shop. Real sad part is he was supposed to have a auction last fall, but because of the beer flu got pushed to this fall. That was to be their retirement. A couple of shitty videos since I was not there to take pictures.

Cops need to understand rural western Canada. Farmers are the first people who will do what it takes to help their neighbours and their community. Sure the fire department may be there but chances are that fire department was started and continues to operate through the generosity of local farmers. The two usually go hand in hand. The RCMP I have dealt with in these situations have been good, but who knows where some recruits may have come from. Local farmers are not city dwellers out chasing smoke and lights.
Had a car vs bridge several years ago and while waiting for tow service I snap pics of the scene. All cops were on bridge talking so I yell "How about a picture of cops doing nothing!". They all laugh except one whose had a red ass since.
Got out drill and tank hooked together the other day and had a chance to try things out a bit on it. Have a bourgault guy coming out tomorrow to help get the monitor set up.
we also changed sprayer tires yesterday and after torquing them we had a broken wheel stud. So off came the tire again to fix it. Glad we have a tire grabber with a few neighbours.
Ha, with -12 temps overnight the last couple of days and the future forecast not worth a damn I have no desire to even look at equipment. I probably should get my ass in gear, but I think I have a broken axle. Seems I spend more time walking in circles lately.

Finally got some good news yesterday. Drill we bought the other day will show up next Wednesday now instead of 2 weeks away. Just down to a few smaller things to go over and hopefully ready for spring, maybe start fertilizing later next week, still some snow on the north side of any bush but most stuff is drying up. Just waiting for one more part, sure hope they actually ordered it this time.

I was picking up twine and mesh wrap from where I fed cows last winter, there is still ice under the feed the cows left behind.
Yeah nvw, scraped a bit of wet bedding up and it was frozen 3 inches down in the sun. Trees are not doing much either and that is what I like to go by. Going to be a long spring I think.

Not sure if it is all that interesting but certainly unexpected. Took cultivator to a field and seeing I was travelling on the highway I put the stop blocks on the hydraulic cylinders. Got there, took them out and just as I got back near the tractor one of the cylinders came apart. Two of the rods holding it together broke at the nut. The nuts and piece of rods hit the tractor in an instant. Glad they missed me, but the oil sure didn't. Pulled out the disc to do the job. Now it looks like I'll be planting corn around the cultivator as it is going to take a few days for replacement.
The air seeder we bought at auction showed up tonight just before dark. They had a bit of a slow start to the day as when the guy we bought it from was folding it up when they got there, a hose blew. Things went good until about 25 miles from home, the driver called, said things were going good, I asked no flat tires yet even? and literally right as I said that a tire blew out! Fortunately I met them in the morning on their way up and took them a spare just in case. Took them all day to get here, was a bit of a trek for them, but I'm very pleased with how they took their time and got it all here in one piece. I have to give praise to Accel Towing and Transport out of Brandon, I like how they treated our stuff like it was worth a fortune even though it's an older unit. Sure glad we never even considered trying to do it ourselves, some things are just worth paying for. They had all the proper permits and two pilot vehicles as that's what was required because of the size. Now if I could just get all the parts to show up for the tractor we are going to pull it with......
