It actually didn’t even seem that fast. We were cruising along and I looked down and I was doing 80. Still had a lot more throttle to go. (2000rpm and about 3lbs of boost).
Fastest I have seen on my sled speedo was on my formula Z 700. The needle was between 180-190kph. Hard to read at those speeds. It was across Tobin lake. We drove one way to check it out and had a race coming back.

Remember awhile back where I said prices for old sleds were out of hand? Just hit a new record. Sure it's mint and restored, but seriously?

Thats actually not bad for what it is. Hell I have seen a decent Massey Ski Whiz sell for 4K at auction and the track was in rough shape, rest of sled was very good. There is demand for some of them older sleds with collectors

I cans see it more for brands like Massey or John Deere, they would have a following from the equipment side, the local AgWest has a Massey sled up on the wall for display. Sno Jet was just one of the hundred other brands out in those days, there was too many of them around to be considered rare, but not enough to say they were a popular brand. It's not up to me to tell people where to spend their money. Just wish I had gone around the last 5 years gathering up all the old sleds that people used to just give away or sell for a couple hundred bucks, could have easily turned 10,000 dollars into 40 thousand or more just this winter alone.
Haven't been able to get out on my Fat Bike as much as I would like the last while, just too cold the last couple weeks, then between working and a sore back the the last week has put a damper on riding, which is too bad, the weather has been nice. Have been trying to make a trail to ride on just by packing it down with my skidoo, but seem to be getting just enough skiffs of snow and wind to keep blowing it in and then that makes it hard to see it again the next time I go out to pack it down. Might have to load it up and go to town where they have a nice trail system to ride on. Went for a walk there last weekend to see how difficult it might be as it's all on a big hill, might be able to tackle it. Going to make a groomer to pull behind the skidoo, see if that works better for making a trail, the skidoo track is alright but not great if you are going over deeper snow, still stays a little too soft to hold up the bike.

Ah Kevlar, you need one of the old light generators hooked up to hand warmers. Sorry couldn't find the English version.

Eesh, had 2 ski wizs when just old enough to ride. One ran, the other was basically a "to do" project to get it running that dad never did. Don't know how he got them, I was around 10 when they showed up. One had a Lloyd's engine if I remember right, don't recall the other but was different. But, just having the one running was enough to provide no desire to get the other running. And you couldn't give them away. Tore the track off one for a guy at work to use for decking on his sled trailer. Hulk went to scrap dealer, probably same fate for the other. Had a Polaris 1973 tx340 dad bought new that was a heck of a lot more of a snowmobile than the Ski-wiz. The ski wiz was good for pulling the tube though, kind of like having a car doing the pulling. Yes, they may have an attraction now but for a good portion of the time on the farm you would rather drive over them than drive them.

I also like to dabble a bit with photography. I'm sure the guys with cows calving have been seeing the northern lights for the last while. Finally got the good camera out to take a few shots around 5AM this morning. To the naked eye the colours never show up as much as the dslr can capture. No reds or pinks last night though.

View AttachmentBeautiful picture! Do you get a lot of Northern Lights in your area? Don't seem to get them here very often and not usually real bright or active. About 12 years ago or so I was outside at 4:30 in the morning to start hauling grain and seen the best display of my life, looked like something in the movies. Really active and colorful and they came far enough south that they were directly above my house, have never seen anything like it before or since. I was going to wake up my wife but didn't think she would see the beauty in it at that time of day! I have a niece and a nephew that seem to have a really good eye for photography, they get some amazing pictures even just with cell phones, and nephew is only 10.

Finally had enough of the cold and said screw it, took my bike out for a ride yesterday, was only -27 when I left and was -24 when I got home, so the heat that was billowing off of me caused global warming, maybe humans are causing it!!! lol Wasn't sure what to expect riding in those temps, but could have gotten away with wearing less clothes actually, I thought it would be cold, I was in a fairly well sheltered area so that helped.

My oldest son works at the Koch plant in Brandon. He's been biking to work all winter. Talked to him yesterday and he said last week was pretty cold 🥶 but he's geared up for it. Goggles are a must have.

kevlar, ya, northern lights are a fairly common occurrence here. And when they really get going they are pretty spectacular.

Gary, any particular settings you use on the DSLR for the northern lights? I have tried before, but never look like that. There also haven't been much for northren lights this year. Usually have some good ones by now.

These are the settings I used for that pic. If I had a fixed lens with an f1.8 or even f1.4 ($$$) I wouldn't need such a long shutter or such a high iso.
