Thanks Northern farmer, I did quite a bit of research before I bought and got the reduced reach seat and foot peg controls as an option as heat grips and a few other options. I ordered a bobber dark horse in black smoke and added some chrome to it. I wont be an evil knievel on it! Actually the other reason I picked this bike is because the dealer had it on order for awhile so the chances of getting it this winter is good. Headingley sports said if you order before christmas you should get it for March or April. The Scout I tried out and is a cool bike but lacks some important options and is a bumper ride. Life is pretty short to not enjoy a few moments speed. Jumped on a roadmaster and holly cow that is a heavy bike and feels like your in a convertible car. I dont know if I could lift that bike up if it fell to the ground. I guess I am not a bagger guy.

Well, after being kicked off CBC because of politically incorrect stuff last week I decided to blow some cash this past week on a new Indian chief bobber! What a cool bike and cant wait till spring to giver! Shopping for it was really awesome! Got the stage two exhaust so jcalder will hear me starting up! Amazing technology in these new Indian bikes. Didnt go for the Road master as I didnt want too clunky of a heavy bike. Almost bought a scout bobber twenty but was advised to spend the extra money on a chief. Some guys are waiting 8 months for there bikes! Even though they are assembled in Iowa the parts come from over seas. Anybody else who wants a bike should order now. Any body else into bikes here! Where'd you buy it? I get all my Polaris stuff at Headingley.

Yup , Got it at Headingley sports because Avenue Polaris in Morden dont sell Indian. Interesting , about the history of the name, Apparently polaris waited till all the legal law suits was cleared and than bought the brand. Something about an Indian arts and craft act where you can use the name but you can not associate any Native american products in the show room. Sounds like the name is here to stay. Too bad the Eskimo s couldnt of kept there name.

Oatking, while I don't have the answer to this but it certainly is a maintenance item, ask the dealer what to plan for as to having the spokes checked for tension/wheel true as to how many km to initially put on it before having that checked out. I've read some that say its recommended to get them checked before every riding season but if a bike gets few km on it then I couldn't see the point. What I have found with dirt bikes is an initial seating/stretch period if you will and being a dirt bike I did check them myself but it would be easy to screw up the trueness of the wheel by doing the wrong thing and shops should have the special spoke torque wrench and hopefully have a tech that knows there stuff. If ignored spokes could break or have handling quirks. All motorcycles used to have spokes, now not all that many motorcycles on the street use spoke wheels but it certainly has been a tried and true system through the ages and obviously dirt bikes that can take insane punishment all use spoke wheels.

Do you guys know of any nice winter resorts that allow you to bring your own snowmobile or side by side to ride on there trails. I am Open to any in Manitoba , Saskatchewan or North eastern Ontario. Most of the time we go to Falcon lake trails and they dont allow off road vehicles on there trails. I really dont know of many winter resorts other than Hecla island and Falcon. I dont think Hecla allows snowmobiles either.
kevlar are there cabin resorts in the riding mountains to go riding? besides, your luxurious cabin in the woods your working on! he he he
Thanks for any ideas.

Try elkhorn resort, really nice chalets, groomed trails in all directions. Some really nice riding around here if you know someone who knows the area and where you can ride off the groomed trails, pretty lucky as there isn’t to much land that you can’t ride on here. Unfortunately most of the snow we had has melted, but at least it’s a good base. If my cabin was done you’d be welcome to use it, but so far it’s still just a pile of lumber 😔.

Forgot to mention Child’s Lake lodge in the Duck Mountains, some really nice riding up there, haven’t been there since I was a kid but dad has been there a few times since. Also Assessippi north of Russel, ski hill and tubing, should be good riding from there also. Pretty sure there are places to rent there, but it’s super busy, likely have to book a year ahead.

There are a few resorts in sask. it would depend how far you want to drive. Elk ridge up by the PA national park is a nice place to stay with lots of trails to ride your sled on along with a couple of hills to tube on.

Maybe just jump on your sled and ride to all of these places! Dad and some of his friends used to ride the trail from home to Roblin, Swan River, Hudson Bay, and some other town I can’t remember by Hudson Bay , I think it was 700 or so miles round trip. Always wanted to go with them but could never get away, now likely never will as a couple of them have died, some are just too old.

We rode from just north of Melfort to carrot river -Hudson Bay -norquway- green water- Hudson Bay- carrot river and back home one weekend a few years ago. Was a great weekend trip about 600 miles total. We stayed at a bed and breakfast in Hudson Bay the first night and green water lake the second. Would like to do that again. When we trail ride we don’t mess around. Most mileage we did in a day was 330 miles.

You better start planning a guest house as well as there are a few of us on this site that enjoy sledding lol. I always like the Swan River area. How far are you from that area and is there good trails between Swan and Riding Mountain?
