I enjoy going for a horseback ride in the evenings. Thankfully the mosquitos haven't been too bad this year. One of my neighbors did a little strip farming (not on purpose I'm sure) so there is a nice bare spot about 8' wide the length of his canola field! Perfect for riding We have a neighbor at our other farm where dad has a cabin, she boards horses and teaches lessons and I think breaks them as well. She is on a horse every day for hours, she must put on thousands of miles each year. Pretty much any time we are over there, we cross paths somewhere. We let her ride across our property, but have to be careful anytime you go to have a leak, there's been a few times I've walked around the grain truck to go and just before I pull it out, she rides around the corner! lol One year we were combining canola, I had some time and had to take a crap, so I walked down to the cabin to use the outhouse. It was a nice day so just left the door open to enjoy the view (and let some fresh air in!) when to my horror, she and a few of the people she was teaching rode by! I slowly closed the door hoping they never noticed as there were a few trees between us, but a friend of my niece took lessons a few years after that, and she heard the story from my neighbor who had rode by me! A guy can't even get privacy on the most remote back 40! lol I was taking a leak on the yard in front of the shop one day and the meter maid from the power company drove up and around the other shed to head out the driveway, attractive gal, I was busted, all I could do was smile and wave. She was laughing. I always assumed it was at the situation and not the fact that I'm an average white male.

I was thinking of the stick in the spokes as well but didn't mention it as I visualized you falling behind the main pack and so the stick does no good then, but I may have underestimated your pedal power under dire circumstances. However I like the idea of the bacon, either you throw it at the bear and that keeps it busy for a while or you are the hero to the others for having brought bacon along for breakfast.
That is unsettling to have a bear come wandering along through the yard and no doubt that has happened various times in this yard and never realized it but the odd time I have spotted one during summer or fall, one happened to have an accident as it ate a healthy chunk of lead. Last winter I noticed tracks that went to various spots in the yard and mostly that was where some canola was spilled or fell out of the grain trailer when I cranked open the slides to get rid of any bit in the bottom after I had washed it at the truck wash. Those tracks, were no doubt repeated as then I saw piles of bear scat full of canola. I followed the tracks and they went to the creek beside the yard, this is in the middle of winter so that bear woke up to go find food it would seem, probably not the happiest bear around to be meeting though !

Does drying grain count as recreation? Looks like we will be spending more time around a dryer this fall than I have spent doing other recreational activities combined this year .
Got in lots of camping this summer, and likely biked between 3-400 miles. Never got our quad trip in that has become an annual deal, things came up and just ran out of time.

Drying grain does not count as recreation.
Took my son to Saskatoon to the go carts a couple days ago. Was too wet to do much else. We had fun although he beat me on the fastest lap in both races but I ended up in front of him at the end. Haha

Got one last kick at the cat this weekend, went camping for 3 days. Absolutely beautiful weather, no mosquitoes or ticks, not too hot, cool at night but a small heater kept the camper warm. Kids were pretty sad to have it come to an end, truth be told, so was I. Picked up a newer camper a few weeks ago but just used the older one as it was already set up. Looking forward to winter now, still a couple days of spraying to do and some oats to get off the ground, going to have almost everything hauled out before winter so won’t be hauling grain all winter long. This should give me lots of free time for sledding, fat biking, curling, and anything else I can think of. Might even try getting a start on my cabin. Got a fair bit of biking in this summer but not much since harvest started, might be a little out of shape again when I get back at it 😬

Learned a lesson today. You get "out" of shape a lot quicker than you get "into" shape.

Got the sleds out yesterday. Easily the best riding we've had here in probably 5 years. Have about 5-6 inches, good firm base. Made a mess of the yard today trying to push it though, left it a few days hoping it might firm up underneath, but no such luck. Was like trying to push that heavy wet snow we always seem to get in the spring right after the yard dries up from the winter. No luck deer hunting yet, haven't been out much though but have seen a few.

Kids had sleds out on the weekend and managed to get stuck a couple times. So snow was decent. It has melted today down to not much but supposed to get more here right away. Be a good base here if we get another dump now.

We just got/are still getting 10+ inches of snow. Was also hoping to get less snow the first time so it could just get packed down. Now we'll have to be careful not to push the gravel off with the snow.
Not complaining though. The people in B.C. are having a tough go of things! Sounds like no access to the southern part of B.C. except through the States. We have some relatives stranded there right now. They were on their way back to Alberta on Monday.

Wow Victory, I am only at 4" or so when Igot up to go piss last night. Hard to tell since the wind picked up this morning. Might have to make a point of going sledding north of Fort Assinaboine this year. Even with this crappy wind we got still better than what Mission is dealing with. The one picture I see of highway 1(I assume) is completely gone in one spot. All that is left is the train track hanging over it. Pretty big gap too, nuts.

Well, after being kicked off CBC because of politically incorrect stuff last week I decided to blow some cash this past week on a new Indian chief bobber! What a cool bike and cant wait till spring to giver! Shopping for it was really awesome! Got the stage two exhaust so jcalder will hear me starting up! Amazing technology in these new Indian bikes. Didnt go for the Road master as I didnt want too clunky of a heavy bike. Almost bought a scout bobber twenty but was advised to spend the extra money on a chief. Some guys are waiting 8 months for there bikes! Even though they are assembled in Iowa the parts come from over seas. Anybody else who wants a bike should order now. Any body else into bikes here!

Congratulations on you're new motorcycle, should be fun firing it up for the first time and taking a spin on it. Then again had you driven a demo this year to know what they feel like. Long long ago I had thought about getting my bike license and buying a Honda V65 ( they were a fast bike in their time ) but I never did and life continued ( may not have had I gotten that bike LOL ). Just now looking up some specs for you're model and that is quite the engine size and I would think should give a good feeling of torque. I've never driven that class of bike, hp wise its been a couple of crotch rockets and I will admit I like the feeling of that sort of acceleration and speed but how you sit is a whole other experience. What colour did you go with as I am guessing its the same two colours as the 2022 models or then again I am assuming you physically have the bike now ?
