Back when I was a kid my dad came back to the yard dragging the blade behind the 5020 after catching it on a railway track while clearing the road by our place. One hydraulic hose popped out of the coupler and when he went to lift nothing happened, it tore the blade right off the undercarriage. Lucky he was slowing down to cross the tracks, he would always go in road gear to make that snow fly and not make ridges. Could have been nasty otherwise. Still was bad enough having to reweld the blade up

Yep they are removable. 5 bolts on each side. They are pretty stout, I put them through their paces yesterday, with no problems. I would guess if I took one side off, I could angle the blade with no issues bending the other side. Now I'm thinking I'd build a top extension of some sort so when I'm plowing with the blade angled at 20 mph it won't throw snow at my windshield. Would you mind sharing what size of plate you used?looking at your work I think I would like to copy what you did

You could then get them cut on a plasma table.

Ye NF, thats one of my queens, just always has to be part of whats going on, used to let her in house at nites till she started cupboard crawling and would hide when it was time to go out in the morning lol. Just one of them all around friendly cats. Found her in a haystack be five years ago last spring, even then she was friendly. I was surpised there wasn't more damage to that tractor given how hard she must have hit. Had the early style flyweel housing with the cast intregal mounts, I've seen them break in trucks simply by having your foot slip off the clutch, bent the bolts which were a real PITA to get out when I pulled the engine, but the housing was intact. Also the front cover survived, another weak point in impacts on those 855 Cummins. Someone had cut out part of the front crossmember so it would clear the oil pan on the one side. If you look in the one pic of when I bought it, you can see they had the dozer mounted to the sides of the actual nose which they had reinforced, not the frame rails further back, I actually ended up putting that nose piece on my 875 as it was in better shape than the original as previously someone had tied onto the access ports on the bottom of the original to pull the tractor FFS. No seat belts, so imagine someone got banged up somewhat. Cab was so nice on it I gave serious thought of swapping it as well but decided wasn't really worth the effort. Bought it from a young guy by Toefield who had tried to run it as is, it originated from Rimby Rocky area, but then a wrist pin or such started knocking so he had it up for sale. I almost missed it, but a text I had sent him made him think and things went from there, he had a pending sale for 2K and I had offered him his asking of 4.5K after explaining to him what he really had and why it was worth it. Long and short he gave the other guy till noon the next day then texted me K, he had his chance its yours lol, then explained his grandpa had told him to show some respect for my honesty, tractor only cost me 4K in the end, he was happy and so was I. Needed the tranny most of all, best deal I could find, wreckers wanted 3K exchange for an older style one, other than the axles being the smaller ones, this thing had everything I needed to put my old 875 in the field. Even had a new clutch in it. Getting too old for these projects, well more too many projects really I suppose, always takes a few more years than it should to get around to them lol

Broke the LH spindle mount where the lh steering arm attaches to while plowing snow last night. We got snow yesterday and wouldn't you know it they called for a contract for today. Had to finish with the smaller tractor and FEL as it wasn't enough to use the blower. Man it took forever with the loader as compared to the blade and snow wings on the one that broke. On the search for parts today. As I mentioned earlier my main snow pusher is a 1952 44 MF. I really need to upgrade to something newer...and have a cab. But that old 44 can really move snow.....fully weighted up and rears full of chloride, still have grandpas chains in the shop if I really need traction.
