Yeah, that's the extended version I remember, it's a little different but liked the radio version so had to see what the alternative was like back in the day.
Cinderella was something a buddy of mine listened to a fair bit back in the day. I didnt own any of their stuff but didn't mind it, but these days I really like hearing some of their songs. There is a lot of different instruments in some of their music. I remember Cinderella played while booze cruising and that typically brought out Beastie Boyz Licensed to Ill.
For music I like to really listen to, I heard Barney Bentall on the radio the other day and being shut down with rain yesterday, I threw the cd's "lonely avenue" and "gin palace" on the stereo. Sit back, shut the lights off, turn it up so the speakers disappear and soundstage opens up and just listen. Listen for the occasional acoustic strings, maybe a few seconds of keyboard, the odd harmonica, a very forward electric guitar for a few seconds, some percussion for long interval and then a single strike on a cymbal. Really good recording quality on those two cd's but only ones I have. I remember I used to listen to Lonely Avenue quite a bit, now I remember why.

I did hear a cool thing on the radio the other day. Vinyl sales surpassed cd sales for the first time in 30ish years. Who would have thought. Now how the hell do I put a record player in the tractor?

Mainly listen to country on the radio these days but it is not really "country" and keeps moving away each year. And, like any radio station, the current "hits" keep being played over and over so I get tired of that too. Discovered CJVR 750 Melfort a few days ago while turning the manual tuner looking for 800 and have that on now. Top 40 from 80s and 90s.
Records over Cd's kind of makes sense as cd's are pretty much obsolete. If you want digital you may as well skip that round thingy completely as a storage device. I obviously haven't done that yet. This winter I plan to build a digital music setup and move into the new millennium. Network drive and be able stream to a few music systems in the house. Will come back to some of these bands you guys are posting like Beerweiser have and Lynas. Not commenting on them much but will come back to them when ready to download some high res music to give a good listen. For instance that Black Label Society on first page I will look into more later. There are songs to listen to as background noise while doing other things and then there is music to sit down and actually listen to, where that is all I am doing. Two different things.
One more song I will have on a slab of vinyl in the farmhouse.
Example of one I like to hear but not necessarily listen to:

Well, I would say Black Label Society is way outside my wheel house. Now, if someone played FFDP blue on black or this one while sitting around having a few beer, then yeah, when I was younger I could sit back and tell my buddy that's not too bad.
For something a little different, or more for listening I will throw these ones in here. Carnival just because it is relatively simple track with percussion and guitar. Wonder because it's a good live performance, Jealousy because I just like Natalie Merchant overall when I have a mood to listen to something with this style.

Beer wiser, you need some sax in your hard rock. Only took a few seconds to remember this one band and song, 33 years since I heard it. There is another one I am trying to think of but can't right now. I was more mainstream with Helix and of course Autograph. Sammy Hagar Heavy Metal another good one.

The guitar in Carnival creates an interesting atmosphere when sitting down and listening to it. One of those songs you don't throw on with a group of people and ask what they think. Have to listen by yourself.
Came across this old song.
But for guitar I really like, it has to be the Resonator. I see one in that Blue on Black video.

Check out Blackmore's solo's in this. Typically improvised, sloppy, indifferent, yet somehow brilliant at the same time.

A sad song about the last meeting Ian Gillan had with his estranged Dad.

Never listened to much of DP at all, never thought of them as a blues type of genre though I've seen it mentioned. For tickling my ears I like how certain guitars cut through the air.
Here is one you can play for a group of people. Nothing subtle about it, it slaps you in the face. Really works the midrange so if you know how to set your volume and bass/sub just so it doesn't distort then you throw this on and the first few seconds grabs hold. And as things get going and settle down then the vocal hits and slaps you in the face again. Especially if the listener doesn't know a female vocal is coming. Meanwhile the strings are ringing through the air. A little too loud and the midrange will hurt your ears when it distorts, but just below that point and it is rather intense.
And if you get through that ok, you move to Delta Dreamland which starts with the crickets, then the strings, and the bass is really tight, so you turn it up more. And the vocal is smooth and kind of sultry so you turn it up more and she puts a bit of an edge on a bit later. Then at the 2 minute mark the intensity builds so you have to be careful not to have bumped the volume too much. But when you get it right, it's an interesting tune to listen to.
And if you like that kind of sound there are some other songs on the cd worth sitting back and listening to. Because these 2 songs represent the style pretty well.

One more artist I can think of that is a little different, is Sarah McLachlan. If you are Canadian you may have heard some of here songs on the radio. Off the Surfacing album Building a Mystery and Sweet Surrender got radio airplay. Her voice is a little different and so depends how she uses it. You may like it or dislike it, the concert video here puts that into focus. In Full of Grace I really like how she uses her voice. That song and I Love You have a very interesting vocal presentation in the recording - immersive to say the least. The vocals fill the room. Also, I love You has the deepest bass notes of any recording I have, the bass is the first tones playing when the track starts. Adds an interesting dimension. You won't hear it on a mobile device, maybe with headphones. Some music doesn't play well on a radio that sits on the shelf and these are a couple, but if you can really play the full range of what's on the recording they are worth a listen.
