This was that accident from a few weeks ago in Canada, and yes they were speeding and caused the accident but it showed that there were survivors and one was taken out just in time, were all or some of the others alive ... perhaps ?.

This video is a year or more old now but gives a window into what has been happening in China with their own EV's, and not just cars but motorcycles as well. As to what is going on over on this side of the pond, good question as certain youtubers that are fire marshals or engineers keep pointing out various more recent incidents happening in various countries but what has been happening in Canada specifically is a good question. And the reason I drop this video is not only what its showing but the constant hiding of such accidents from their own Chinese people, is it possible that such occurrences are or will happen here as well. Our Liberal government pushing a no free speech agenda and constantly hiding the truth of what crap they have been up to ... and controlling our main stream media as well as our internet access beyond our boarder, its becoming harder to find out items that they would much rather we don't find out about at all.
Just yesterday my daughter was telling me about how a brand new Chevy Silverado burnt up at the parking lot at work . Driver said three months old . Electrical fire in dash . I have had to take my 24 Chevy Silverado for a short in the dash . They said when they installed the dash they pinched some wires . Wow you add a one hundred percent electric ev and just imagine the fire potential . Most computer lap tops burn when the battery gets hot . How f do o they keep these car batteries cool in areas such as Texas ? It seems the extreme temps are a huge concern and we get them in Winnipeg ! Any body check what the insurance is ? Is it more than a regular equinox ? Insurance is super expensive already .

Talked to a couple guys that have/had f150 hybrids and around town it’s mostly electric and once it’s over 65-70kmh it’s runs on the engine. Was a couple years ago but they seemed to like them. I’m sure they said when it’s cold it’s engine run also but I could be wrong. Also once the buttery was down to 25% or so it was running on the gas engine. If they stayed in town all the time they would have no issues with running a full electric vehicle but was nice to not worry about going down the highway.
I still think the hybrid vehicle is far smarter than full EV in Canada. Not sure why they don’t make more models hybrid.

I voted maybe on the poll attached to this thread, but currently see no reason to buy an electric vehicle in the current environment. Clearly all the people that wanted to save the world by buying one have done so, and they just aren't selling. Pretty much guaranteed at this point that down the road it will be out-dated and next to worthless because the technology is changing so fast. Kind of like a computer, they depreciate fast because the new ones are always much improved.
So maybe down the road it makes sense, but in Canada it's pretty hard to get past our cold winters and the problems that presents.
I do have an electric golf cart and e-bikes and they work good for what they are intended for, but that season is basically over now and they are parked inside.

I'm with swman in the maybe camp. Never is a long time and technology changes fast. 20 years ago many would say we never need autp steer.

Yes the advancement in technology will come fast and furious . In five years how bad will you ev depreciate? More than a new gas model ? Actually waiting for an ev yo depreciate like you would a gas vehicle might be the wrong way to go about it because the cost of upkeep might be too much . Too many unknowns even for the used market

My father bought a hybrid camry when they first came out. I'm not sure how many miles he put on that car (quite a few trips to BC and Washington state) but he had it for around 8 years. Traded it on another hybrid camry, but hasn't traveled near as much with this one and at 91 years old, he now basically only drives to get prescriptions and groceries. Point is, is that they've been around for a long time already, but they are still a long way from replacing the combustion engine. Someday I might consider a hybrid, but a straight ev is probably never going to be my primary vehicle (I'm almost 60).
