Planning on replacing the clutch and related items in my 4420 combine. Mother Deere is asking over $500 for just the clutch disk (they call it a disk colter). I can get the disk new or refurbished from others for $120ish. Is the Deere brand that much better? Any recommendations? Ideally I'd like a kit to include the clutch disk and pressure plate.

If it is relatively easy to replace just do the disc. Just make sure the flywheel and pressure plate are not cracked or warped and that there is nothing broken inside of it. If the clutch disc itself is not worn the pressure assembly is likely the issue but first check the linkage and make sure the clutch is setup properly. Is the john deere part any better or is it the same thing in a $380 box? If it is a 3 day job, do it right and do it once.

Got it iamwill. The drive belts are glazed and slipping pretty bad so figured while I had the belts off to be replaced, just do the clutch too. I'll tear it down to see how it looks and go from there.
