Just kicking around the idea of upgrading sprayer booms. We've got a front boom NH Guardian with the 100' mono boom. Every time I run over standing wheat or canola I start thinking about wider booms! Pommier booms are one I've heard of and Millenium. They say you can go from 100' to 132' and be the same weight or less even. Does anyone have experience with these? Or maybe there are some other manufacturers out there?

My Pommiers have been good, 1800 hrs no welding or problems of any sort really. Not sure about Millenium but I talked to these guys a long time back about putting a bigger boom on my patriot: www.superspraybooms.com/If driving on crop bothers you I would look at tramlines, need the sprayer to be 2X the seeder but I basically spray with zero tramping except on corners.

Man , I looked into replacing a few sections on my 4720 jd . I know it’s old but it does a great job and is a fairly light sprayer and makes a light track . They quoted me 14 thousand to do both end sections . I ended up doing a good job welding and putting raven boom wheels on instead ! But to replace a boom , is that not at least 125000 dollar touch . 4 years ago a farmer at enns had a big mishap and the boom was around 90 000! Almost cheaper to just buy a newer sprayer I would think ?
I can’t believe how much parts are now a days ! Mind boggling ! But maybe if you can reduce weight of the boom it might be worth 100 000 upgrade !

If driving on crop bothers you I would look at tramlines, need the sprayer to be 2X the seeder but I basically spray with zero tramping except on corners. Do you use skinny tires every pass? I always want to get things lined up for trams but either I make them wide enough or I hit the rows beside the tram for the first few passes. Right now my 650 floaters only run down 1 row each behind our 15in planter and 2 rows each behind the 10in drill, without rtk it's not perfect but works pretty good. Then I widen the track a bit and run my 320 skinnies down the middle of those tracks for later passes. Back to the original post, what make of sprayer do you run? If it's a Rotator I've seen several sets of new or almost new 120ft factory booms come up for sale for pretty reasonable. Would be a lot cheaper way to gain 20ft vs paying 5-10x more for aftermarket aluminum.

Generally run 620's until I need to put on the 380's for either fungicide or going down the corn rows. All I did was move a couple of shanks apart a few inches on one wing, start the field in the right corner and stick to the pattern and it's that easy. I do have RTK correction.

You really think its gonna be 100k or more? I do , when my pivot shaft broke off , the frame piece was 13 grand and the boom Center frame was About 25 grand . I decided to get it welded . Some guys I see just replace the outside wings with aluminum.

Wouldn't the sprayer need to be 3 times the seeder for it to work on the field edges? Granted, a drill over 45 feet would really start limiting your sprayer options.

One wheel track per pass is laid down, so half the track width of the sprayer in from the end of the seeder wing is where you want to move the shanks. I used to run a implement guidance system and that was perfection, but even without the GPS receiver on the drill it actually lines up pretty good. I've probably been doing this for 12 years with three different drills and two sprayers. 66' and 132' are common and I am 60' and 120' currently.

I had someone from Pommier finally return my call. They gave me a ballpark price of $82K for a 120'. That would be a recirculation boom. That would not include installation. Another $5-7K. That was in July, and would need to order this summer to get delivery for Jan/Feb 25. Seems like a lot of money for an extra 20'? I really love my sprayer otherwise and the hours on it are still low. Has anyone looked at trading sprayers recently?? Wow! "Oh this 4 year old sprayer with 1000 hours is a great price at $600k!" says the salesmen! LOL crazy

We picked up a 1000 hour sprayer for 300 this spring privately. It’s blue and a 2017. Actually paid less than the trade number dealer gave us last fall. Sold ours privately for 50g more then dealer was gonna give us on trade.

I'm sure you could swap sprayers for less than the boom, might not involve a dealer though. Basically the dealers are telling us with the trade values that this equipment is not worth what the stuff on their lot is, because it's not worth that much either. The only way this changes is for guys to learn how to say NO.
Maybe there is a way to modify your existing boom to 120'?
