Hello all. I just joined the Combine forum. I may put things in the wrong category as I have no experience with this Forum. But here goes nothing. I am looking for some much needed advice on my JD 1820 Hoe Drill. For the last 2 years when I seed canola the extreme right side wing will seed noticeably thinner than the rest of the sections. I've inspected the roller and cups under the meter housing and openings inside the tank. All look good. This only happens in canola. But why only the extreme outside wing ?

Welcome to the forum ,
What is your fan rpm . Is it double shoot ?
Are the brushes inside the meter in decent shape .
On your 1820, is your manifold tower cap damaged .
Is the baffle in the meter housing twisted . Usually it does not open all the way on the right side from twisting .
Go on Facebook and join the 1910 jd air seeder site . That is a good place to check if you experience problems .
Usually when it’s thin seeding , it’s a pressure problem , like a poor lid seal .

Welcome wolfy. What tank are you using? I'm guessing a JD tank as well. Is there another product going in the same line as the canola seed?

I've not had anything to do with that JD tank or drill unit but was wondering when you did a run check in the field to visually look to see that product was coming out of all runs, did you happen to notice a difference in volume of canola on the ground ( which I realize is hard to spot as its such a small quantity ). Probably only by catching all the runs on that wing hose and comparing to the opposite end also caught and weighed out each generated combined sample for one main hose run would one have a proper sample to know for sure its a volume issue. While it more than likely is lack of seed coming out, I thought I would throw out the question as per the possibility if the wing was somehow not seeding to the same depth as the rest of the unit. A neighbour has a three section 1820 I believe it is and a few years back he had something going on where one section was seeding deeper from what I gather ( never did find out what the mechanical reason was ) and so that area of seeded ground lagged the rest due to the depth but did come which meant the seed was there, just buried in his case. The other could happen as well where its shallower and not getting into moisture and then sitting there vs germinating. So hopefully not to confuse the matter but figured I would throw out that thought just in case its another issue that is not seed count related.

I would second the seed depth thing is good to check, or possibly some debris in the tank.
The giveaway might be if the reduced seed is exactly matching one manifold or not.
