How many of you guys drain out your over winter def fluid ? My local Deere shop manager said stale def left over long periods of time is causing problems . First I heard of this and wondered if def tanks have a drain plug? But it does make sense if moisture gets in the def tanks.
Is all def the same standard ? Is it true engines over 700 hp are exempt from def?

All def tanks have a plug. Def can go bad but not too often. I wouldn’t keep the tank more than half full for winter. It needs room to expand when it freezes. Then you can top it off when you go to use it with fresh DEF.
All our equipment that requires DEF seems to not burn any once it’s on the farm for a day or two….. Some dealers are kinda sticky about that but we don’t trade often enough to worry.

Never worried about it. Bulk def tank sits in cold storage too, just pull pump over winter. I aim for less the 3/4 tank max for vehicle tanks over winter.

No issues here. In or prior to winter I don't fill any tank right full just because I figure it freezing while full can't help. I do keep my tote of DEF inside a building out of the sun, I've heard that sunlight and heat can deteriorate it. My current tote is nearly two years old.
I would buy from a place that keeps a fresh supply and stores out of the sun.
