I found a macdon swather with pretty low hours , but it’s close to Saskatoon . For me it would be a 10 or 11 hour drive up the yellow head just going empty. What is the best way to move a 30 ft swather ? I have access to a swath transport trailer but is that even a serious option especially on the yellow head highway. Any ideas ?

Get a full cary mover or hire it done. Trucks seem to work cheap these days. Lots of swathers get moved on trucks. Put the header on trailer then drive tractor unit on.

i agree with meskie on this one, full carry or hire it done, i've had Mollenbeck trucking move both of my swathers and he hauled them complete sideways on trailer, does need a pilot vehicle thou, not sure if he's still trucking been a few years now

I agree with the previous 2 posts. Get a commercial hauler to do it.

I’ve got to the age where I concluded that there are some things you just pay to get done. This is one of them.

Lowdermilk transport. Comes from close to Saskatoon. Will haul swather with header on. I've hauled with those Bergen carry on trailers and it gets a little hairy with the idiots that are on the road these days, ha.

Q-Line transport has a trailer that can load tractor and header both after they are split up. I had a 35' swather shipped that way. No way would I try to tow anything like a swather on a busy highway!
