Here’s our government at work for us. Yesterday they announced at the climate conference they’re at that they will give farmers an incentive to reduce the methane from cows by using hormones or essential oils in their feed 🙄. They can then sell the carbon credits to the big polluters so they can offset their emissions. I’m still trying to figure out the insanity of all this climate BS , but pretty sure there is money to be made here, but just not the farmers. It will be run as efficiently as any government program is and cost billions more than expected and someone will walk away with their pockets full of money and then we will move on to the next scheme. My god I’m getting sick of this.

They could have done more for the environment by having the conference virtual. Or not having everybody fly there on their private jets.

Another reason for more ranchers to exit the industry.

Another form of tax on the beef industry . I really think the liberal party wants us to eat fake meat !!! I was talking to a farmer from holland and he said that is why he left that country back in the 90s. He said holland had too many regulations. He said Canada is like holland back in the 80s in terms of regulations. He said you had to do paper work for everything !!! I think this methane reduction thingy is another step closer to Europe’s insane regulations. All this regulation crap is started because we have a major disconnect between urban people and farmers . It will get worse !

Very bad but common. Last Thursday my wife came home from shoppers drug mart quite shaken! She said a man in his thirties walked right past the till with his hands full of items. The cashier said are you paying for that? He turned and walk out of the store. No security . I was surprised dollarama had a security guard yesterday. No worries guys , I was there for Christmas lights!!!! Wow back in the day you hid an item and walked out ! Now thieves don’t care ! That is more dangerous I think.

I think there is a lot more hardship out there than many people realize. I know locally food bank usage is up a fair bit, seems to be less kids playing sports. I think in part because of the rising costs to play sports and parents just can’t afford it. When I am at my kids school I see lots of people that you can tell aren’t flushed with cash. I’m a little insulated from the costs of some things that many aren’t, like meat for instance, we almost never have to buy meat from the store and that makes a huge impact on expenses. Sounds like homelessness is up a fair bit in Brandon this year, so when people are financially stressed or feel they are out of options they will do what they feel they have to do. The craziness that’s going on in the world will just make this all worse. The US is trying to shut down coal and natural gas electricity generation, which is around half of the country’s electricity, and add to that forcing the switch to electric vehicles, power rates will go through the roof, adding huge costs to everything.
