I was also surprised Loadline in Winkler was down to 12 trucks in the month of June. The sales guy said they like to have at least a hundred on the yard. He said freight companies are not giving up there old fleet trucks because they are only getting 1 or two new trucks at a time instead of 10 or 12 trucks on a order. Its shocking the shortage of used trucks. I am also surprised how companies can not sort out this problem. They have had two years now to drop the hammer and get things going again. Somebody is not pulling there weight. I think this is more a political problem where china is doing this to screw the west.
Hey, when china locks down its own cities, do they pay there folks like trudope paid his minions to stay at home. Just wondering how those chinese people survive while being locked down. Its not like they are loaded money wise to begin with. This situation is way more serious than most people believe it to be. Never any news on how individuals are coping with the lock downs in china or how productive they are.

The CCP has hitched their horse to the zero COVID mantra, which at this stage is not only impossible but unwise. This could very well one of the things that brings down Xi and his cronies. Average Chinese are getting restless and fed up with it. The power of the CCP over the people is more tenuous than they want to believe. However once it falls that won't magically make things better for the chinese people or for us. Gonna be a rough ride everywhere for the next 10-20 years.

That video is of military exercises in another part of China (Rizhao to be precise) and has nothing to do with the bank protests going on in Henan and Anhui provinces.

While I agree it is going to get rough, I would question whether the "zero covid" policy is really even about "covid". You see, when governments the world over enact policy that doesn't accomplish what they say it is distinctly intended for (and it continues for over two years now) the real question is what is the point of it all? Pretty easy to see that whatever they are doing in China(always a bit of a guess because reliable info is hard to get) is resulting in a huge reduction in stuff exported to the Western world....and we know what effect this is having and about to get worse. I wonder if China realizes this? O_o And when any leader of a major nation is finally held accountable for the destruction that's been going on it will be a first. BoJo stepping down isn't even close to being held accountable.

With inflation on the top of every bodies mind now even though it was an issue years ago , I dont hear trudeau negotiating with china to step up the manufacturing pace or increase production of raw materials and find solutions to slow importing. He is actually doing the opposite. The solution to this problem is not that difficult to figure out, but enacting on this seems to be his problem. He is afraid to stand up against china. If he is afraid of truckers , how in the world could he stand up to other super powers.

Where have all the workers gone? On our trip out west and everywhere around here is short of staff. Are all the people that got paid to stay home still not back to work? They aren’t still getting paid are they? Or is it that kids don’t want to work anymore? Almost every place I’ve been in this year has signs up looking for employees.

Hooking up a 7.5 hp single phase fan and needed a 50 or 60A breaker for a Federal Pioneer stab lock panel. The kind of thing I can get even at my local hardware store in town. Turns out the 50a are getting hard to fine. The co op hardware in Regina had them listed as no longer available. I did see one at another place but didn't look at price. Just assumed it was $50 or so as always and I figured I would go with a 60a when I found one. 60A can't be found at all, found a 70A at co-op for $170. Didn't need a $170 breaker when a $50 one would do. So I have an account at Gescan (electrical distributor so should be selling at wholesale) and knew they carried up to 50A stab lock breakers. So pick i one up. Then he tells me it is $150. While I was tempted to leave it there and go look if I can find them at hardware store in Regina I figured they better know the pricing as good as anyone. So I took it home.
The lesson here is if you have a Stab Lok panel and thinking about doing some revamp on it and need to buy a couple larger breakers, you may be money ahead to throw the panel away, sell the existing breakers on Kijiji, and buy a different brand.

I bought a 3/4” 4x8 sheet of pressure treated plywood at my local lumber yard on Saturday. They had lots in stock but it still came to $135 with taxes for that one sheet.

I have only bought a few pieces of lumber in the last year, I don't ask the price. It doesn't help my mood by doing so.
I am going to have an interesting morning. Had my 2388 booked with Young's Equipment since October for a service and they finally took it just after seeding was done. It was available to them anytime. I got a voicemail Friday afternoon saying they found some major transmission issues. So at some point this morning I will be further discussing shortages, parts, labor etc with them. Coincidentally, Friday afternoon before they called I was neck deep into my IH truck with Allison after just putting in a brand new Transmission Control Module that didn't fix it. Have a truck that won't move. Found a broken wire in the harness going over the engine and down to transmission so fixed that but no go. Now trying to line up a tech and parts to get it fixed professionally.

I know enns bros has had some turnover recently and I only know two techs by there first name. I wish the mechanics would get a fair shake of the wage handed to them. I bet the 170 or what ever per hour we pay is not even closely making its way to the tech guys. Eventually the top end greed by the enns owners group will shift guys away. I havent heard any guys going on there own complain about there choice.
