This strikes me as odd, local grain company sends a text looking for feed wheat so I give them a call. Turns out they need a sample so they can check the falling number. As far as I can tell falling number is only used by millers, so my suspicion is that they are trying to pick up some lower grade wheat to blend in with better stuff. I have some left over from last fall that had minor sprouting so was going to take a sample and see but would suspect it will have a low falling number.

They try to make money wherever they can. And the farmer usually doesn't benefit a whole lot.

Took them a sample of some wheat from last year that had some sprouting and even with the low falling number they still accepted it. Weird deal but at least I got rid of some of it, better than feed prices at least.
