I've never had anything to do with CA557 elevator chain. From what I can gather, it's a heavier version of CA550.
For a feederhouse chain, the CA557 version is $1,800 AUD, and the CA550 version is $1,700 AUD.
Is the CA557 any better? Not much dearer, one slight disadvantage is no collection of joiners or bits of old chain laying around if I ever need to do a patch up down the track sometime.
