I wanted to upgrade to a 16 by 84 grain auger from a 13 inch. Which brand do you guys like the best? Also in your opinion how much tractor hp can you get by on? I will keep my 13 95 but will trade off my new 13 85 on a 16. My thinking going forward is to just use the 16 for oats . That seems to be my bottle neck! I am hoping to get by with 130 hp to auger 40ish lb oats. Which auger takes less hp …. Farm king or Westfield . What do you guys think ? From what I heard about meridian augers I don’t want to try a 14.
Unless someone has a good experience with one. Thanks for any ideas

16” Farm king works for me with the telleswing. Can unload trailers very nice. It’s 1000 pto but I run it on 540. With a case 110 hp. Unloads 1000 bushels in 10 minutes yeah you can stall it in tough wheat just get a bigger tractor I guess. We never blew a gearbox.like some do running on 1000 pto.

I've got a 16X84 Farmking that I am enjoying very much. Run it with a 7800 JD, about 150 hp. In tough wheat you have to be careful. Don't fill it. 130 hp should be fine in oats.

I have a 14. Has a 16”rodono. Should have just went to 16”. 38% open on a Wilson triaxle in oats going into a 3609 43% going into 2106 hopper.

16-84 farmking here, 125 hp 5020 doesn't quite have enough in tough wheat. 8100 has lots of power, we run at 1400 engine rpm in 8100. Been great and is a drastic increase from our 12' meridian. Bought a used farmking 16-84 that needed some loving so it just sits at the dryer when needed with the 5020. Unload speed is regulated by exhaust color.

seems we have to take the swing off our farmking 16104 every year to fix a gearbox or a spline or a snapped bolt. i think the newer ones might have a little more spline engagement but it all seems very china grade stuff. with a puma 200 can make the hopper round full everything but wheat, on our castletons with the smaller hole it works really nice to dump the bags and then can just open chute wide open.

If your snapping bolts the spline is screwed. Have to weld a new spline on.

Not sure why they can’t beef up that part of the auger, it’s the same with them all.

I also have a Farm King 1684. I run it with a 180 Puma. No complaints. We installed a steering axle on it and have a camera on the end of the auger. Makes setting up the auger very quick and easy.
