Anybody see this weed in the ditches or water ways . Sounds like a pretty scary weed if it grabs hold ! I heard the water hemp was found near emerson mb this summer . Since we flood so often , it is concerning the red river floods can easily transport this weed from North Dakota . I just wondered if SK guys have seen it. How bout you cpt USA? What herbicide control is available ?

Oh lord , . One of our agronomist had a picture of her standing next to a water hemp plant actually pretty close area to j Calder farm. At least not too far away which is too close for comfort for us northern valley farmers!!!! The plant was as tall as she was , about 5.6 feet.

In all seriousness if it's in the ditches you're already screwed. Each plant produces a couple million seeds that are viable forever. Dicamba, liberty, 2,4d ate effective on it. Spray early when small. It's a real blast.

Haven't seen it myself but I've heard it's around.
It'll get here eventually I reckon.

If you've heard of it close you'll have it shortly. It's so bad around here it actually boggles my mind that some people have never had it. Enjoy it while you can. It only takes one plant to get through the combine and it's over.
Cows do like to eat it though.

There's a local agronomist who is crusading about this stuff, says if you see a plant while combining or swathing to get out and burn it. While I appreciate the sentiment around that I'm pretty sure if there's a plant already you're screwed.

You've already lost. Mother nature always adapts and wins. You can control waterhemp but you will not eradicate it.
