I need to increase my harvesting capacity after last years crappy harvest. I currently use a 2388 and hire some custom help. I've never been around a New Holland and the only things I know are from googling. I'm looking at a 2010 cr9080 with 3150 engine 2350 seperator hours that just had an inspection and 25k workorder. What should I be worried about on this model at these hours? Also whats everyones opinion on these combines in general? thanks

I can't really comment on durability at those hours, but that would be a pretty big jump in capacity.
My biggest concern would be the stone-trap, or lack thereof. I'd look for a unit with the DSP.

That's a massive jump in capacity. NH are a nice machine but that's a fair amount of hours. $25k don't go very far with dealership labor and that age.

Our farm has run a 9070 for a number of years. They are pretty solid machines. One thing to check is whether its had the update for the sieve shoe. There are some welds on the shoe frame that apparently can crack. It was a factory recall at one time. I know we had it repaired by the dealer. It's basically all labour, but its a big job. I think they weld in some extra gussets. The deal was 50\50 cost share.

Haha, not a new addition but a good lesson that firebreaks can never be wide enough!

Be nice to know what they did for 25k. The dealer should have a detailed work order available. Unfortunately 25K doesnt get a crazy amount of work done anymore. You get the dealer to do a few belts, a couple bearings, chopper knives and a rotor cover and not much more then that for 25K....

That’s why it’s hard to say what to look for if we don’t know what’s been done or what future items may need to be replaced soon

Work order wasn't closed so I couldn't get a printed copy. I do know one of the more expensive items was the separator clutch at around $6800.00 parts/labour which seemed like a lot to me.

that's a lot of money just for a clutch, not to downplay that purchase, but 6800 would have bought two 1680's, and half the money left over ...[ auction results]

There’s a lot of labour involved with that gearcase repair where the clutch is. That $$ amount is not to bad.
