Have been finding this in most of our cereal crops, it’s been really hot and dry up until a couple days ago so am wondering if this is more of a symptom of the heat than a disease, it’s been the complete opposite of what would perfect for leaf diseases. Anyone know what it is?

Looks like powdery mildew.

That’s kind of what I thought, but conditions weren’t right at all for it to grow, and it doesn’t wipe off the leaf. But maybe it is.

Not that, nobody’s been spraying canola yet and it’s every field.

That looks like ours last year, wasn't sure what it was either.

Could it be insects? Looks like it was canola previously so maybe hungry flee beetles. My daughter was scouting fields earlier this week and some have quite a bit of cereal leaf beetle damage. Could also be wind damage from sharp pieces of plant debris or small dirt clumps hitting the small tender leaves.

It’s on different crop stubble, I don’t actually see bites or damage to the plant. Has been quite windy and hot. My thinking is something related to the weather, can plants get something similar to sunburn?

Hot and dry causing some goofy shit. I've got one terrible looking corn field, I don't think it will come out of it. Several fields in my immediate area showing uneven, yellow spots. Agronomist say it's likely a potassium deficiency to the plant though there is ample out there, the moisture was disappearing quicker the the roots could grow into it combined with the heat the plant was maxing out GDUs lead to a mess.

Looks like powdery mildew. It sure looks like powdery mildew. With all the south winds gusting to 60 km we have been having I wouldn’t doubt it has blown up north! Check your variety of cereal to see how it ranks for powdery mildew. If you had hail it just gives disease another point to infect that leaf.

It's most likely nutrient deficiency. When there's a lack of moisture the fertilizer isn't mobile and the plant roots are more interested in reaching moisture for survival than looking for fertilizer. The younger leaves are pulling nitrogen from the older leaves.
