Not sure if any cattle guys use the calf price insurance available for western Canada, but this will be the last week available to purchase for the fall. We haven't bought since '15 or '16 but with futures at close to all-time highs it might be a good idea to protect these prices.

6 weights in Nebraska hit 3.08 last week. Cattle market is on fire.

Grab it, hay is going to be in short supply for most of Alberta. Prices will more than likely tank come fall.

Soooo, anybody check out calf prices lately???
This just might be the first fall in a long time that we pick out our replacement hfrs and ship the rest.

I think cows are gonna get culled hard also price of them is pretty decent also.
Calf prices still aren’t high enough for what it cost to raise them yet

Grab it, hay is going to be in short supply for most of Alberta. Prices will more than likely tank come fall. We sold our calves today. Don't expect any insurance payout, ha. Prices definitely didn't tank. 8-) |

Yeah, don't listen to me. Hay is still in short supply and Tuesday's sale in Viking still brought good money. All these years and I still have no clue what I am doing. One of these days I will have this figured out 😂.

Nah, I don't need to beat myself up. I pay the wife for that or she pays me🤷♂️. After 20+ years we are still figuring that out, let alone anything else lol.
