I have limited experience with oats. Always used Buctril in the past. Concerned though with all the heat we're getting that it will hit the oats hard. Any gentler options? I am after wild buckwheat and horsetail. Curtail M?

We always use enforcer M on our oats with hard to kill weeds. Oats aren’t on the label but everything in it is. Never had crop damage. ADAMA has a product that’s similar and cheaper. Can’t remember the name of it right now. Mcpa fluroxoper and bromoxinal.

Actualy buctril m would be one of the gentler products now. You can also try outshrine or steller. Curtail M you need to wait till the 4 leaf stage so that is why I use steller or buctril m, earlier timing!
Better to spray oats after 5 pm no matter what chemical . If wildbuckwheat is your concern stay with buctril m and just wait till after the heat of the day. Spray your wheat in the mornings and switch to oats later in the day. If you are unsure always leave a pass so you know next time. If the weather is over 30c for the next several days, maybe wait till under 27c. All depends on weather reports or how big the weeds are. better to be cautious and wait than panic and spray and set your crop back. Remember weeds usually only grow a leaf or two every week so dont panic.
I have tried Infinity at the 80 per cent rate for green foxtail. So far it sets the foxtail back enough to help the oats grow thru the weed pressure. I always worry about frying the oats with infinity so that is why I seldom use it and cut the rate back"
I would like to know if other guys use full rate infinity on oats and have no crop injury!

Only thing I don’t like about using stellar or outshine is it contains florasulam and don’t like doubling up if we sprayed it pre seed.
I’ve never hurt oats spraying them no matter the time of day but we don’t generally get as warm as you do oatking. Never used infinity on them at all.
If it works out we will spray our oats then barley then wheat to not have to worry about cleaning out for cereals. Big sprayer can cover a lot of acres in a day.

I’ve used infinity in the past at full rate with ams with no apparent damage. My go to for oats is stellar but I don’t use florusalam in any burnoff. Buctril M is so 1987 here.

Buctril M was a good herbicide in the tillage days, like Snapper said, the 80s. Now stuff like Stellar, Prestige, or Spectrum are still easy on the crop but they'll take care of the notill weeds like hawksbeard and dandelion.

Thanks to everybody's input. Most helpful. I'm still 1987 here when it comes to tillage so I don't have all the no till weeds. Probably stick with Buctril M for the wild buckweat and spray in the evening as suggested.
