Nope, just the lawn. Thought it was winterkill at first. And these are different than the ones in the wife's garden. Sprayed it with Coragen a few days ago and it looks like it must have worked 'cause the lawn is starting to turn green.

I don't think that is accurate. Lows in the 50s.

Think I had frost on my nipples last night after watching my son’s ball game. Should have went and cheered for the other team, at least they got to sit in the sun, I was in a shaded area that was like a wind tunnel. Had to sleep with an extra blanket last night just to try get warmed up.

I think it’s finally sinking into the markets, up a bit each day, have had some hog barns wanting to buy everything we got this fall already, but not at the price I want, I’m holding on to see what happens.
Chemical is sure knocking the crap out of the cereals, on pretty much everyone’s.
All fields look thinner than usual, nothing stooling out and not lush like most years at this time. Some fields in the area didn’t seem to get a good catch, not sure if not seeded deep enough or maybe too deep? Nothing some of the lighter land in the area starting to suffer, and it’s had some rain. I think the crops will be short.

And the kids.

I am seeing a lot of variation in the fields, the lower areas had very poor germination, when I thought they would be the better ones due to better moisture. The alkali spots are less white now for some reason, but that is probably why the poor crop in those areas. Some of my big alkali spots that I have been trying to establish forage on for years have a lush mat of weeds on them, not sure what weed, agronomy girl was out this morning and she took a sample for ID. Usually these areas stay pretty much bare.

All finished spraying the cereals, did the oats today, looks alright from the road but pretty thin when you get going over it all. Would say it germinated fine , just hasn’t stooled out much, hard to say what is possible if things turn around, but I’m not really expecting much more than half a crop of oats. Just have to do the canola again in about 10 days, it’s looking surprisingly good for some reason, I’ll take it.

Have some canola around our yard on the dry hill that’s starting to bolt. Alfalfa is blossoming. Talked to a guy who figured he will have wheat heading by the end of the weekend. Growing degree days are crazy for us this year so far. If this keeps up won’t be much of a summer. Seeing the same here. Canola bolting or close to it, barley will be flag in a couple days, if we get another high pressure before the end of June the hay will be coming down, the pasture is phenomenal for mid June. All because of GDD and no frost in May. Moisture, while being a tad bit short at the surface on occasion, seems to be good not far down and we've been receiving timely rains as of late.

Finished my in crop spraying yesterday and started grasshopper spraying. Would never have believed it. First saw a few acres of bare dirt in my flax the day before and figured poor germination or herbicide issue. Then got to my last mustard feild and see a cleared off spot about 400ft deep along a fence line. Walk around and see some small hoppers but wouldn't think its anything to be alarmed about. But crop is small and small hoppers are much bigger than flea bettles so seems the only answer. Next to no hoppers anywhere else, can't find them around the yard 3/4 mile away without paying really close attention but where the field is stripped bare there are hoppers. Will spray some more today and then see what happens around the rest of the land.

My input dealer could not believe how soft the land is by union point!! Hope you get good yields even if some is hurt by the excessive rain . That may be a blessing in the coming weeks. I am kinda in between the big rains and no rain! Least we have a chance ! Some guys I talked to said it’s as bad as 21 west of town. Strange how you go north of you it gets drier again . North of Winnipeg crop insurance is adjusting wheat at 15 b p a . Giving them the opportunity to reseed if they want. Deadlines for reseeding is in days’. I agree it sounds like cut worms . They are seldom seen but can do a lot of damage in canola ! I feel like a green horn when it comes to self propelled sprayers . I absolutely love my new to me John Deere sprayer , but need to re spray a half of canola because my course ultra low drift nozzles did a bad job at 5 gal per acre. I have always sprayed at 5 and got perfect control , but I guess going 12 mph and these air induction nozzles make to large of drops to get control of wild oats! It worked great on the broad leaf weeds. I should have put centurion in the mix. Anybody else spray liberty at 5 gpa ? My input dealer uses 12.

We always spray liberty at 10 and always put centurion in with it. If it’s heavy grassy weed pressure we will go with a 40a/case rate or if it’s not too bad we go 53a/case. It works out for our 1600g tank that way to spray a 1/4 with 3 cases.
Liberty is a contact herbicide so you need coverage the finer the drop the better. I spray ours on the upper end of the pressure range for our nozzles for that reason.
12mph with a 5g nozzle wouldn’t be much more than 40psi would it? That would make a fairly corse droplet. I spray 5.5-6 depending on the field so I can go slower and keep pressure up to get a good pattern. Unless I’m in a hurry on a 1/2 section then it’s 5 and 17mph.
