This is the first year I have tried this service. There is a company in Winnipeg called Clean Air and they specialize in recleaning your used air filters. I decided to give it a try since most of the time my truck and tractor outer air filters look fairly clean and the cost of these newer air filters is a rip off it seems. This company cleans the filter and tests them for damage. Its a savings of at least half off a new filter. Dont do inner filters.
Have any of you guys used this service and do you think its worth the savings and risk?

Plumas filter service has been doing this for years, they have a bunch of pickup locations around the area as well so you don't have to drive to Plumas. Basically same deal, about half price of new, I think. One spring they cleaned some truck filters and said they were shot because they had sucked up poplar floaty seeds and they had perforated the filter and they were ruined, I was surprised they would catch that.

I haven't seen anyone in my neck of the woods doing it. I would definitely give it a shot though and sort of surprised on the popular fuzz too.

We’ve got a few cleaned in Plumas in the past, at that time it wasn’t much of a savings but now might be more worth looking into. At that time I didn’t think the risk of getting it cleaned was worth the cost of a new filter, but now when filters for a piece of equipment for the season run in the thousands $$$$ it’s looking like an alternative.

On my new to me 9520r jd I was startled at the cost of engine air filters. There are two suit case filters and 2 plastic egg shaped filter at the front of the filter housing. All four to replace new are around 650 dollars. Just the engine air filters for tractor.! I put 400 hrs a year on my four wheel drive. I should have done my two combines air filter but didnt learn of this place until 2 weeks ago.

I've never looked into that around here as per a filter cleaning service, be it good or bad I do blow out primary filters ( if it has the secondary filter ) of the traditional style and have now tapped and blown out the primary filter in the JD 9430 as they too are a stupid expensive filter and they claim they are not supposed to be cleaned. Not that I clean it often but a couple of times before I replace it and then replace the secondary filter if I have any doubts at all. As to highway tractors, I personally would never even get those cleaned nor do I blow them out as there is no safety filter on the Petes and both of mine have the two filter housings so I just replace and its not very often they need replacing since I drive slower on the gravel and are not often following a cloud of someones dust.

Do it all the time. Swift Filtration in saskatoon. They do them 3 times then that is it , unless they see damage then they won't do them at all. When you own a new Holland combine, you need a few filters on hand!!!

fleet guard filters through a truck dealer are so much cheaper i think it would be hard to bother getting them cleaned. about 50% of buying fleet guard at rme and 30% of official cnh filters
