Just got The Book in the mail today and noticed the K-Hart ad with their Spider drill and they also have a stripper header now. Not that I follow that stuff very closely but have never heard of them making headers before. Are they making it themselves or just putting their name on it?
Seemed to be a few new ideas in the book this year, feels like more than the last few years but could just be my imagination.Noticed one company with no ad this year, pretty sure they always had one other years. Any guesses who?😉

Patent is off shelbourne I’m told. So Khart is making their own, makes sense to sell disc drill and stripper headers together.

Agco used to make a stripper header.

I had heard that K-hart is also possibly going to make a flex header.

It sure looks like a shellbourn renyolds. Have they bought the rights to making them? 3rd party

I doubt I would.

I had heard that K-hart is also possibly going to make a flex header. That sounds interesting! I wonder how they would differentiate themselves? Price? Seems like between Macdon, Gerringhoff, JD, Honeybee, all the best ways of shaving the ground are covered. Ah, maybe I've got it... Availability! 😬

What percent of the header market would these stripper headers hold?
How well do they work in lodged canola? too much shelling? Years ago a neighbour tried pushing the canola down and than straight cutting the crop.

In 2016 there were couple guys picking up lodged canola in November. Said it was a lot better than using a flex head. I would think losses would be high.

my uncle was the only person i knew of with a stripper header, he bought it early 2000's i think to get more capacity out of their 2388 and kept it till 2015ish. put it on his 8010 and 9120 after. i drove graincart for it for 2 years. worked nice in even wheat, in lodged wheat it got it all but was alot more stressfull moving the head up and down at 7 mph. he said he got hired to do flax that a neighbor couldnt put through their combine and it worked good there too. they swathed all the straw after as they had a market for the full length straw. doesnt work at all in oats or canola. in the end it wasnt worth keeping as a third header since he needed an fd70 anyway

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever even seen a stripper header in person, don’t have a clue how they work.

they have an adjustable push shield on the front so the heads lean forward then flick back into a toothed rotating drum that rips the heads off and throws them around the top into a drag auger

I grow Camden variety. Use it on 60% of our acres every year.

I haven't seen one in person though. must be a trade-off - more header loss VS lower fuel consumption and higher productivity

Needs to almost create a seal. If too high it will have more header loss. Definitely an art to adjusting hood height and stripper speed. There are a few scenarios where header loss is greater than say a draper, but if you figure out how to run them properly there is no way that loss difference is noticeable across all of the normal stripper-able crops
