Just curious what barely ready means. Lol Are the peas testing over 20%? Haven't grown peas for a number of years, but found they seemed to thresh the nicest around 18%. We’ll hand sample was 11.5 last night. That’s ready. Haha

Seen one guy by Fort Saskatchewan do a couple of test strips in peas. Probably not ready as combine was sitting. The only pea field near me is still good for eating and at least a week before any wheat desiccation happens. Canola is green green. Don't expect to see a combine until close to September.

Victory the peas are about 15%, but not sprayed and there were some green patches that were a bit tough. Today they went through much nicer, as it was a good hot day. There are a fair number of combines rolling in the area now.

Started swathing some barley today, hard to say how it will yield, not our best crop by any means, disease seemed to set in after the flood on this field. Considering the extremes this crop has had to endure to get this far, any crop is quite a miracle.

Finished winter wheat a day ago here in A. Alberta. Was very interesting. Yields were about average for us (95 bu/ac on irrigation on sand piles), but the protein was 13%. And it was very heavy, maybe 66 #/bu if I recall correctly. I've never hit that before. usually it's 12-12.5.

We were gonna try today but mother nature had a different plan. 1 to 2 mm of showers in the forecast turned into almost 2" of rain on top of the 3.3" of rain we had last Friday on our only fields that were ready.
The first 3.3" had dried up quite well. Wondering if this will soak in as nice, I have my doubts but we will see.

started swarthing conola today , dekalb 75-65 , just an average crop I thought that variety is generally quite tall. Doesn't look like it from your picture.

yes it was tall but it all fell over , was difficult enough to swarth , swarths looked like a 40 bu crop, but it is in the bin now i am happy it done a good 50 bu per acre , very thankfull i had it done before the crazy wind because the lighter swarths would be scattered for shure

Crap, canola here is just going down. It is going to need a lot of time to cure. Some is pretty green. A bit of wheat was taken off a couple of days ago, less the 600 ac in a 10 mile radius. Stuff is not ready, feels like we are 10 days behind. Good to seeyou got yours in the bin cropgrwer.

It’s been at a standstill Around here last couple of days. Needed another hour to get our peas done before it rained. Later barley was still around 19. Later oats just got sprayed on Thursday. Canola was 14 and seeds looked small. Hopefully the weather smartens up after tomorrow

Guess what I seen today? Snow! Thankfully just a few flakes. Went out about 9:30 tonight to get the last cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden, and there was frost already. Going to be a long hard frost tonight. Think our canola should be alright for the most part. Was swathing some today and it looks better once we got into it and better than what we cut a few days ago, except for what was drowned out earlier but came back, that was going to be our "fun money" if it made it. Guess we don't get to have any fun this winter! A lot of crops aren't going to fair too well with this frost, quite a bit of green stuff around my area.

Few guys just started combining here; some early seeded barley coming off. Decent yields, but no bin busters so far. Majority of my barley field is dry enough to combine, but lots of little patches of green scattered across the field that are just at the dough stage. This happened because of the very dry hot conditions, and then some rain later on in July. Now trying to decide whether I should swath it next week or desiccate it.

We have a 1/4 of barley off our 120 of peas and 350 of oats. About half a crop compared to the last few years.

Been going on wheat for 5 days now cut around a few green areas but most is dry as a popcorn fart, yield is 1/3 of what it should have been but quality is good and protein is high. One thing is for sure it’s the earliest I’ve ever combined anything other than spring thrashed
