Started on oats yesterday. Peas are ready but will try to finish oats first. Canola’s been cut. Probably get at it next week.

Trying to decide whether to spray the barley and straight cut or try to make a swath that we can pick up. It's so short it'll just tickle your knees. Oats are close and canola is about ten days away from swathing. My son has been installing a full bin alarm on the auger ... I told him he's being pretty optimistic, ha.

Got some lentils done, started last Saturday. Waiting for a canvas from honeybee to show up so swathed my durum and now on to wheat. Will be picking that up mid next week. Made 70 footers!

1/3 done yellow peas. Did glyphosate two weeks ago today. Sow thistles still green but going through combine fine, green pea pods in low spots and various places in field but sample is 14% so good enough. 33 to 35c this weekend will dry down the green stuff. 60-70 bu/ac in low spots, 25 bu in average areas, 5 BPA on poor ground. Should average close to 30 it looks like. 1" of rain away from a nice crop. 35 BPA is a good average for me.

Seen the neighbor go by with combines, guessing he is going on barley. Other neighbor just desiccated his wheat, not really sure why. It has zero green and no weeds, almost a picture perfect crop not counting yield. Tens days and I think the dust will be really flying.

I just sprayed heat and glyphosate on my dryland spring wheat yesterday. From the edge it looked ripe and even with few weeds, but when you walk out in it there are large patches of russian thisle. Wheat is probably 12% dry but the thistle makes it 26%. So we'll come back to it in a few weeks. Yield might be 18 bu/ac, which would be pretty good for the year. Just finished a winter wheat corner also. Was expecting 20 bu/ac tops, but it averaged 29. Poked into lentils and they are ready except for the russian thisle there as well, so we'll wait longer for the glyphosate and heat to do something.

Over half done. 7mph eats the acres quickly. 840ac is our record with 3 40’ heads. Not a good record to have, but may as well get it done quickly.

GaryFunk, those full bin alarms are a very good idea. Saves you from plugging your auger and stripping your flighting. I put one on too because these old legs are not so fast climbing bins anymore! My canola in the swath is going thru my deeres pretty good. I think I will be done canola next week and than it will be several weeks before the beans are ready. So far really happy with canola yields. Not bumper , by any means but i ll take the 45 plus bushels an acre so far in severe drought conditions. Looking at the way the beans are filling it looks like a 40 bushel crop. Zero tillage helped make this crop. Only reason I say that is only 2 or 3 guys are doing that in the red river valley.

Zero till will work in the valley but only for two to three years. Then the land get too hard and the Roots don’t go down. Trust me I know. I have tried 20 years ago. This year if we don’t get enough rain I will not work the land. If we do I will work it.

A 45 bushel canola crop is pushing a bumper.

I am hoping to start spring wheat later this week. We did not grow any early crops like peas or oats this year.
I have desicated a couple fields but will have to wait to spray more as they seem to be staying a bit too green somehow. I guess thats a good thing.
Congrats Oatking on the yields! Assuming you haven't prepriced all your canola for $11 last winter! haha
