I know the dealer in kinistino had a bunch of machines in to do the updates on them. Machine could have been from somewhere else or didn’t get done.

All the units at john Deere dealers are not done as far as I can see , and because x9 units didn’t show up those farmers run 2022 season again with this machine and yes maybe they never put loss pan under thinking this claas never spills more than 1/2 bu . Kinistino never did updates on those units cause they were sold ,or claas did only for guys that kept calling there cell . Think JD is better in service .

Maybe those guys had a X9 demo and had they you know what handed to them. In the end 17,000 in parts to solve their problem would seem a pittance comparted to a foray into a X9....that never even showed up!

And they used the 8700s for free this year. But Deere tried to get them to trade to 2023 X9 for a measly 120,000ish difference with no guarantee they would show up….. and they would have to pay rent on their trades to use them if they didn’t. Sounds like a win win for Deere not the customer. I can see the updates not getting done when they were traded in to a different company. Its not that the demos were that much better it was all about the $$$$ between our local Deere and claas dealer i would pick the service department in Kinistino over Deere.

If they had known what was going on and fixed it they would be money ahead easy. If I was Claas I would hunt down every last one of those units and change them over, it's a stain on their reputation.

If the rotor grates are the same as the older machines I would think combine world would have an abundance and they aren't really a wear item .

Believe me I made a strong suggestion that we should change grates, but I'm pretty sure there was a change that prevented the old grates from just being installed. They were having something fabricated to try but my harvest was done before that came available. So it is possible that wrecker 700 series grates will work, but might need modifications in there somewhere to adapt them.

My brother was talking to a guy who traded his 8700s for deere X9 and he said the 8000 series even with old style grates was a big step backwards from the 700 series. Couldn’t keep canola from cracking last year or was plugging because of the slow speeds to not crack.

Couldn’t keep canola from cracking last year or was plugging because of the slow speeds to not crack. I've heard they are bad for cracking, I never had much problem other than in peas but I was running slow cylinder speeds and snapping impeller belts(not sure if they solved that problem). The threshing cylinder and impeller are so large you have to run pretty slow in sensitive crops. Only solution for cracking on a cylinder is to run it slower, and the drives have to be up to the task.
