I am thinking of buying some dry 11-52 phosphate to store over the winter. Could I get some advise on storing the fertilizer so it doesnt turn to a sugar cube. Same with the 46-0-0 .
Its not quite as simple as storing product in a fertilizer bin.
Thanks

If you are storing 11-52 in a hopper bin it's easy, goes years with no issue.
46-0-0 you will want to tape a piece of plastic over the bottom gate before you fill so moisture doesn't come in and make a brick, then when you want to empty just cut a hole in it and you're good. Can cover top with plastic as well. If you can get delivery on a nice dry day that's always a bonus too. Big rubber mallet is handy when unloading.

Guys around here always throw a bag of floor dry in the bottom of the bin before filling with 46-0-0. Can dump it in the poke hole if the bin has one, or put it in the auger hopper before starting to unload the truck.

We put floor dry in the bottom of our bins when we put sulphur in them.

Weve always put a bag of floor dry on top and bottom and trickle in a bag or 2 per semi while unloading. It's always come out

For 46-0-0 Ive been using Costco kitty litter. One on top and bottom, never had an issue. Usually in bins 8-10 months

If you are storing 11-52 in a hopper bin it's easy, goes years with no issue. For me 46-0-0 stores not too badly over winter with some floor dry in the bottom, floor dry covering the inspection port, and a decent lid. It still clumped up a bit requiring poking, but few issues beyond that. Phos on the other hand gives me far more problems with clumping. However I remembered that it wasn't 11-52 I was storing, but 40 rock.

Honestly I had tried the floor dry/kitty litter many times with 46-0-0 and did not feel it worked as well as actually sealing the opening with plastic. Quality of product and weather when filling do play a part I'm sure.
torriem I think your climate in southern AB is a little different than southern MB from what I am told, way more humidity over here.

I’ve put floor dry in the bottom and covered the top with plastic. I like the idea of using plastic on the bottom. I’ve covered the poke hole with plastic. Most problems I have is with blends containing AMS. Look at it with a wet eye and it cakes.
