I see huge explosion in Beirut Lebanon, government official dead. An escalation in the Middle East would surely put a risk premium into oil, not sure if it's good for other commodity prices though???

I'm not sure anything is going to help commodities anymore.

Yeah I can see fuel going up and everything else dropping. Seems par for the course. I haven't seen the news on it, might, just might be worth turning on the tv for.

Yeah I have my concerns about commodities in general too. Don't want to go hard on the selling until it's in the bin though, nothing is for sure in this environment.
Middle-man who controls the supply chain is only one in line to make money these days, likely meaning fuel going higher...

Not sure what to think of fuel. I can see a spike for this fall. Lots of drilling rigs getting ready to fire up. Looks like the local micro refinery pulled the plug on getting built this spring.

Did they say why they pulled the plug? Seems like a good time to get things built. Enough guys/equipment looking for work, government subsidies, etc.

No I didn’t hear why.Just seen that all their survey stakes, ground water sampling pipes were taken out. You would think that they would have been able to by cheap oil for alittle while.

George seems to think there is gonna be a tightening in diesel supplies no matter what unless Western governments relax on the Russian sanctions.

I’m certainly not going to let our tanks run dry, might even pick up an extra tank or two. I think next year will be a bigger gong show than we’ve seen the last few years. Shortage of fuel will mean a shortage of fertilizer, and so on.

Prepare for anything. I keep my fuel tanks full during winter, I can survive ok without energy for 6 months of the year so I try to remember which 6 months. Food, energy, shelter - still the 3 main requirements but for some strange reason no government can seem to figure that one out. If anything government should be the most equipped group to understand and ensure those requirements are met. Must be just bad policies.
However I don't trust the news so who knows what is correct. Is it Russian sanctions that stopped diesel fuel or did Russia stop selling diesel? Same result but entirely different way to view your world. The G7 is putting a cap on Russian oil - yes, the G7 will tell Russia how much to sell Russian oil for. Hmmm, I missed that bit of how life works when you need food, energy and shelter and can also dictate the price to the supplier. The G7 can also source that oil internally, except of course for bad policies. So bad policies meet bad policies.
Somebody should make a meme: Russia - we will not accept $us for oil payment anymore G7 - we counter with a price cap of us$60 on your oil
Sorry, I just don't find any of this stuff beleivable anymore so am sitting out on trying to make sense of it. Watching grain prices last few days is fitting. I sold the grain I wanted to and plan to sit on the rest into late winter to decide what's next. I don't care what the "news" or analysts says. I am sitting it out for a bit.

a new thousand gallon west Steel diesel tank is 5000 bucks now. How well would diesel store in a poly tank?
I have never ever heard of a farm retailer complain about diesel prices or lack of availability!! farmers seem to get the short end of the stick again and again.

I think it was Zerohedge that had an article last night that said diesel was now at 29 days carryover. I don't believe in any numbers given so let's say the old number was 25 (and should have trended down for a while since that date) and a couple months later it is 29, what changed? If we have under refining capacity how did we magically make a huge change in production in a matter of days.
Not worth dwelling on. Maybe we are at 10 days of reserves. A guy can guess this any which way, and better yet - it is probably a problem that doesn't even exist.
The one thing I think is true is the G7 is bent on destroying its own countries intentionally and there is a large part of the world that has stepped out from under the G7 thumb. And that is bringing alot of pain to the G7. OPEC was is a cartel that was controlled by a central system and I would say it still exists but now works for its member countries. So if the G7 says price cap, there is just as good a chance of OPEC saying fine, no oil shipped for a while.
The G7 does not hold power any more. And so we are along for the ride while our criminal controllers flail away. Don't know how it ends. But it does seem to me things are different than 5 years ago and there are lines being drawn now.

Coop here sells for $1600 if you buy fuel from them. That was the price in the summer
