So I got the 986 basically hooked to the V-rake or haybine. Never has done any heavy pulling since the torque assist and the clutch have been done by Rocky Mountain many years ago, but not many hours ago. Started off cutting hay with it and no problems(maybe 200ac worth), switched over to the rake and had a couple of days without any problems. One morning I fired the sucker up and can not get it into gear. Ok, figured it was having a brain fart. Shut it off, restart it and all is good so I went raking all day. Next day no problems. Anyways long story short, I can not disengage the clutch right now. Release bearing is moving properly, but something is preventing it from disengaging. Disconnected the trans brake, adjusted the linkage to the point there is no free play and still no luck disengaging the bastard. Triedgoing up a bit of the hill with my foot on the cutch and the other on the brakes and stalled the tractor in low gear. I swear something is welded up in there and I am at a loss for ideas. Never smelt any burning clutch or anything, tis is a dry clutch with hydraulic assist. Looking for ideas that don't involve splitting the f*cker.

I agree splitting the sucker to change out the clutch.... maybe you can adjust it threw the inspection hole ,,should be able to get a flashlight and look up there and watch why it doesn't release?
